Bryopsis Cure: My Battle With Bryopsis Using Fluconazole

Did Fluconazole Kill all of your Bryopsis?

  • Yes

  • No

  • I'm treating my tank with it now.

  • I love Bryopsis and I'm mad that everyone is killing it.

is it suggested dosing be stopped during treatment, I dose two part and nopox?

I didn't change anything during treatment. Everything runs normally, including dosing, skimming, lighting etc. My daily carbon dosing continues as well. Even GAC are still in my sump during that period.

That is what mine looked like. I stirred for a while but it remained cloudy. I just poured it slowly in my sump ahead of the return pump. Tanks got a little cloudy but no megative reactions from fish or corals.

Yep I just dumped it right in the sump

I only dosed one 200mg capsule for my 20 gallon tank. Should I add another?

I just want to add a picture of the left side of my tank. This is a 24" section of my tank to show the bryopsis. Ignore the salt streaks on glass. I took this picture today. This is all bryopsis. I have no hair, bubble, or other algae thanks to Vibrant. I do not plan to pull any of the algae so that I can see what is happening. I will be pulling the bryopsis from the rest of the tank as it weakens to help reduce the additional nutrients that I anticipate will be released as the bryopsis dies.

Good luck man! I think you will be very happy with the results. You have some nice looking colonies!! Time to let them shine and get rid of this crap

Haha, I know you've been battling this junk longer than me! I couldn't get it in the tank fast enough.

There is someone who is starting this treatment this week that has some different macros but I'm not sure if he's growing any mangroves. Honestly the only thing that I've seen or even read about it killing is Bryopsis. It's still a new test so there isn't a lot of info on it yet. But we're working on it.

Some of the dark green stalks that were left are turning white as well so it won't be long now. :)
