So yes, the 1" drain can easily handle the L1 in my particular setup... my gate valve on the drain isn't even all the way open.
Same here - running an L1 at near full (90%) and no issues on a 525. I also have a manifold that diverts about 25% of the flow. My gate valve is at ~50%, I'd guess?

I'm simply using 1/2" MPT x 1/2" SLIP adapter.
I.D. of 11/16" with an O.D. of 7/8" with a thickness of 3/32"
I.D. of 3/4" with an O.D. of 15/16" with a thickness of 3/32"

Thank you! I just picked up the o-ring kit. btw, are you using caribsea special grade for your substrate?

I was using Tropic Eden Miniflakes up until this weekend... pulled it all out and replaced with Tropic Eden Reeflakes. More on that later.

Got me curious also. About to set up a tank using the mini flakes.

The Miniflakes was great sand... just blew around too much for my liking. I finally got fed up after a year.

No worries, I figured it out. I took the pvc pipes from the Red Sea fittings and I'm going to hard plumb the return and drains.

Cool, I wasn't sure if you were asking if there was a different way to hard plumb it other than the way I did mine.

Intended to get some good photos with my Canon... but my power went out yesterday while I was getting set up. My large neon green polyp toadstool didn't want to cooperate for the picture either. So by the time power came back on, I was too discouraged to mess with it all and I simply used my iPhone lol. This will have to do for now.
