You may want to consider an auto top off unit. It mat seem silly for a tiny tank but evaporation can cause swings in your salinity. It's important to keep the environment stable.

Find some build threads for nano tanks and you can see what other people have done.
yea anything under 20gallon i would get an ATO or a glass top or youll be toping off all the time. not good for swings like stated

I am brand new to saltwater. My son got an 8 gallon bio cube. I know this is too small, but I promised I'd try. I have 1 piece of dead coral for decor and that's it. We hope to have 2 tiny fish and maybe 2 shrimp. We also like hermit crabs. What equipment, substrate would you guys suggest? I'd like to use easy (forgiving) live macro algae to help balance this tank. Please be kind with responses. I have been called names elsewhere and was referred here to learn.
Glad to see you here. No nasty little fishes here. So sorry you had a bad experience elsewhere. Only love and warmth on R2R...... and don’t be scared. Enjoy it. You’ll make mistakes everyone does. I always say if you don’t make mistakes you never learn anything. Me I’m always learning! Have fun.

Not my dog, but this is what you have to expect when you own a Husky. The owner of this house and dog left the house with an upstairs window slightly ajar (like the one on the right). Came home to find their dog lounging in the show - on their roof! :p He had pushed the window open wide enough to get out.

Something I often warn others of when considering a Husky, they are SMART! And you need to be really careful thinking about how you've left things if you're leaving them loose in the house. We put a gate with a latch and self closing hinges infront of our back door because our pups were starting the wreck the door pawing at it or letting themselves back in because we have a handle instead of a knob. Figured we would be good and they can paw the gate and still not get in. Turns out, Zoey figured out how to unlatch the gate, open it towards herself then open the door to let herself back in.

Human kids are the same. Not sure why we can't crate train them. Any parent understands.

They are letting all the school kids here out early today... really bad system coming thru capable of tornados. Same one that dumped all that rain on Gatlinburg in that video I posted...

Last bad storm we had destroyed a high school 20 minutes from my house. Luckily it was over the weekend and nobody was there. School buses were on top of each other, the roof was torn off half the school...

Quite a bit of flooding going on west of me as well, it was a weird couple days for the West coast torrential downpours in the valley and massive snowfall in the mountains, mud slides, washouts and avalanches all in the same day ;Bored Shut the railway down for almost 48 hours. Just heard they had more washouts and the main lines are closed again
