@Katrina71 for arches, the easiest way is to build up a small structure or column, then glue a flatter or curved piece extending from the top of the structure.

Then you can either use a longer, slightly curved piece to rest against the portion that jets out from the the top of the structure.

For larger archways towards the top of your tank, you just have to break up the pieces of rock you buy until you get a nice curved piece that wedges between two columns real well.

It’s like winning the rock lottery.

Is a keystone best?

It works best at the bottom of the tank surrounding the rock structures. It’s also efficient as you can remove the archway at any time since it’s not connected.

To make say, the arch itself, you can take a longer rock piece with a good piece and a small curved piece from your rubble and glue them together. Then simply set on the ledge you previously glued.

If you’re planning on adding more weight on top, you’re going to have to wedge/stack. Stacking works fine but I find it’s hard to get a piece that has two flattish sides and is curved. That’s why I usually go with a wedge.

“A” is an example of a keystone at the base. “B” and “C” are both wedges from nice chunks.

Keystones are nice just because you can ditch them or move them around to whatever ledges you have set up.

No problem man. I'm a sucker for wrasses too lol. Getting you the whip fin actually inspired me to grab a katoi that came in. I haven't grabbed a nice pic yet though. It like he knows.

I am picking up the Pico (6.4 gallon) tank Friday. I will not forget. I will not pass go. I will not collect $200.

I hope to get it up this weekend with the kids. I feel like they are both at a point now where they will really get into how we set up a tank.

Mandarin pair maybe? LOL!
