Need to get phosphates down and the cyano will go away. You can blow it off and scoop/suck it out.

Just for the record, I dont really care for chemiclean. It does work, just needs a ton of aeration and the skimmer will overflow the entire time. Unless the issue is corrected, it will just come back.
Phosguard works great for me, doesn’t completely strip out all my phosphates but keeps them really low

Oh man!! Great choice, i predict pristine water in your future ;)
I just found one of THESE for $25 from premium aquatics, it will be here in a few days.
And all I need now to setup the 50 cube is some reinforced braided vinyl tubing and a jebao return pump.
I should hopefully have it set up within 4-6 weeks now.

I hope you don’t mind but I might just copy your sump exactly for my inevitable upgrade! Are you going to put biomedia in the bottom?

I may put something in that far left chamber right after the filter sock.
Possibly a bioexport brick or something, not sure yet.

I have phosphate rx on order. The LFS didnt have any left in stock. Got a phosphate reducing pad, the cut to fit type, in the meantime.

How old is your reef? Most do it around 6months again
Some of the rock and livestock are 10 months, but this actual tank is 8 months. I just had that dino battle and was warned by @sfin52 that this would probably happen. I think it is going to be a little battle getting things back in balance.

You're almost there, 9-12 months in things just start to get easier.
