A blue tang in 3’ by 3’... I don’t think I would do it.
Something else to think about is that leopard wrasses eat lots of pods, but you also want a mandarin. I’m not sure how the two will work together.

I chatted with Katrina about this, yes like introducing 2 mandarins! :)

Live sand would be a great start due to the bacteria that lives in it. This will help keep your tank balanced. Also i use Bio Balls in the back of my tank for added healthy bacteria. I don't think you need a protein skimmer if you are only doing a few fish and shrimp. I had my 5 gallon in my office and I was holding a fish and some corals and crabs. All i had on that tank was live rock and carbon with a filter pad in the back. Water changes are the key with small tanks to help keep the nutrients at bay. Best way to enter this hobby is "Keep it Simple"

Welcome to R2R! Happy Reefing!

The planted plus or the planted plus pro? I have had the planted plus and absolutely loved them. But I don’t go for high lighted setups so it works for me. All of these were lit with the planted plus. I Went with the Finnex 24/7 since it was 30” and I wanted the length. I should have just gotten the 24” current USA.

Oh never mind me I thought you were talking about the saltwater ones. Looks like those did very well for you!

Indeed. The planted plus pro is supposed to have more par but I really prefer the serene because i don’t need as high par for what I keep and the back light is super pretty. I’m hoping one day to get a cube tank that I can set up in my art studio. The calming sounds and lights should help me concentrate on my art more.
