Official job title, Assistant Plant Operator.

The Control Room Operator is on the computers in the control room operating all the controls.(obvious job title is obvious) When he starts or stops or has a problem with anything he cant leave to go look at it. I'm the guy that goes and figures out what is wrong... but hopefully I caught it before it becomes a problem. Sometimes, SHTF tho and you just react.

Operations, power plant. I'm responsible for making sure everything at the plant is running exactly how it's supposed to be. When things tear up in have to isolate and start standby equipment and make sure the torn up stuff is locked out for maintenance to fix.

Basically, I know how all the equipment at this plant works with each different system and make sure it's doing so at peak efficiency.

Plus... a lot of greasing, oil changes, minor wrenching, washing....
I have been hearing about power plants my entire life. My dads a civil engineer, so is my uncle. Dad has done piping for mostly coal and natural gas plants, uncle has worked nuclear. Family gatherings growing up had some exciting conversation ;Hilarious Pretty cool to meet the guy actually keeping the lights on!!

Speaking of Assistant Plant Operators and Control Room Operators...have you seen the Chernobyl mini-series? It was literally about the guys who had your job, they sent “you” to go fix the reactor after it melted down.

Also: no wonder you are mr reef fix-it doctor! You take care of some of the most important/expensive equipment in the world! @living_tribunal you better listen to him LOL

Dad's and Mom's dad worked in the power house at the DuPont plant in town, Dad started out in the instrument shop at nuclear power plants in both SC and NC, and I'm operations at a coal plant.

I guess you could say it's a family tradition.

Cant stand that.
Made me look like an ******* lol, and then you quoted it before I could edit ;Dead

but yea. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch Chernobyl! The historical accuracy was unusually spot on for a dramatization. It’s on HBO

Unfortunately I do not have HBO and I'm paying for enough "TV" services already. Hulu live, Netflix, Disney+(haha, ok that one is free)
