Whenever my monti takes hits like that, his polyps close and he whitens out. He likes the slow consistent flow and big thrashes smashing his polyps every 10 seconds which is what I used to have on else mode but something happened with their positioning, not sure.

These two on master slave used to create perfect waves. the water in my tank would go up and down about an inch or two back and forth. Now it's all jittery if that makes sense.

There is also some weird like sandbed ground swell that circles around and makes some of the lower lps get a little too much flow.

I feel like I'm going nut here!

Sorry for the spam again :/ all of this is very helpful.
You'll figure it out, these things take time.

This is why I love my gyre pump and the rpms. The gyre creates a wide flat sheet of current that goes around the tank clockwise, and the rpms have an ultra wide flow pattern that mixes everything up in the middle.

With how much I'm messing with flow, I think I might pickpick up a maxspect. Would I need two for the 65?

I have one IceCap 3k on a 36x24x24" 90g with 2 Reef Breeder RP-Ms on the back wall. If you move your OW25s to the back, youd be fine with one Gyre. Icecap just came out with the new 2K and 4K models.

Watch some video of Goni’s in the wild, I immediately went and changed my flow on mine after I saw what a huge colony looks like. Granted yours is a completely different species from a different part of the world!

100% with @Robin Haselden on lots of flow for sps and much less for the LPS. Ultimately, most of your corals will adapt to a range of conditions, just give them time to adjust once you find something you like. Also, if you get to a point where all but one or 2 corals are super happy, maybe just move those corals to a better flow spot and then don’t touch anything for the rest of time! Or at least until the colonies get so massive the flow is completely different lol

This is very cool, but I would NOT want to sleep with it in my room!
