Back from dinner. Proud parent moment...the booth behind us overheard it was Andrew's birthday dinner. They wanted to compliment him for being polite and articulate. They gave him $10 for his birthday. (He held the door open for them to check out the daughters)

That moment when...

you realize your purple birdsnest looks nothing like a purple birds nest.

here’s a pic from google (sourced from R2R LOL)

Here’s what is in my tank that I have been happily referring to as a purple birds nest for about 2 months now!

first pic with polyps retracted (thanks shrimp!) second is a normal day with lots of extension

It’s nice to hear/see kids with manners. Sad these days that it’s the exception rather than the rule or so it has been my experience anyway. Keep on momming the way you do need young adults like him more than ever

I disagree. My own kids and their peers mostly have really good manners (9-12 yo). I am not saying all kids, but seeing mine and kids like Andrew make me feel like this world has a real chance to improve.

Andrew is environmentally aware. He could care less about someone's sexual orientation or the color of their skin. He has a typical kid mouth sometimes, but there is a lot going on in his head and heart.

Parents in the north need to start parenting like yourself and us in the south. No doors would be left un-held and “thank you”s ignored.

Which was the proud parent moment? The manners or the ability to take a situation and turn it to his visual advantage ??

To me these days it's the older kids and adults that are the issues. A lot of Parents these days really shouldn't be parents. So sick of holding doors open for a mom and there kid and not even getting a glance, smile or thank you. Pretty pathetic they can't even set a good example for there kids.
