There are some terrifying things that lie in the dark recesses of this thread, only the bravest of the brave venture there.
It gets especially wild around the holidays too...

I have some expensive things on my list, and some cheap things, gifts for all kinds of budgets for whatever my SS feels comfortable spending, I don't expect them to spent $4-500, but if that's what they have the means and desire to spend, I've atleast provided some options. @Fin Was correct, between shipping and gifts my Secret Santa last year easily spent $4-500 on me. I spent $200 on mine but that's what I was comfortable spending. Everyone's budget is different and everyone should have provided options for every budget. It's one thing to wish for it, another to expect it.....

I guess I just would expect someone to be reasonable and add some $20-$50 items. But I really don’t care. Dude can have some seachem phosphorous, I’d be happy with that gift.

I really want the korallen-zucht lps amino acids. It seems to have excellent reviews.

Side note, I’m not sure how many of y’all hydrogen peroxide dip to clean plugs with bad algae outbreaks.

I do it sometimes if things get bad or there is algae growing on a corals tissue.

I would be careful doing it.

Yesterday, I peroxide dipped a few frags. The firework cloves that have been growing gang busters were dipped and I’m pretty sure most all of its polyps died.

He didn’t seem to close up before I dipped him which may have caused this. I haven’t had any deaths from this in the past.

Just something for you all to think about.

This secret santa thing seems to me that people are trying to find a gold mine.

I will add that maybe people are misunderstanding the Elfster thing... everyone has filled out that initial questionnaire and there might be a few cheaper gift options in there. They then think the Elfster thing is for more "Dream" type gifts..

Hydrogen peroxide is an often suggested way to curb clove polyp growth. I wouldn't have used it myself for dipping cloves unfortunately.... Hydrogen peroxide is one of those things that they don't really tell you much about but its use needs to researched really well. There are a few corals out there that it's an absolute no no option for dipping. I hope your cloves can recover :)

I’m going to defer to @Katrina71 on this one, I’m not the best with gifting (if you can’t tell already).

I am really good at gifting myself though ;Hilarious

I think there are a few of the newer heads that might survive, really a shame :/

Another coral I’ve noticed that REALLY hates hydrogen peroxide are Duncan’s. I believe that’s what killed my first one.

I use coral rx for pests and stuff but it doesn’t do jack against algae.

I don’t mind algae at all but a few frags I have are prone to having algae grow on the tissue. I have yet to find a non-invasive way of removing it when turkey basting fails.

If anyone has ideas/success with a certain tactic, I’d greatly appreciate the insight.

I’ve tried that and some algae is just stuck so tight that I can’t get it without causing serious damage to the tissue.

This is one problem I have yet to figure out. My leptos are still paying for my inability to solve this.

Do your snails eat off your corals.

Maybe skip the dip, turn all the flow off in your tank, use a 10ml syringe of pure hydrogen peroxide and squirt around the base of the frags. The peroxide should settle out and not touch most of the heads. It will also quickly dilute in the surrounding water. I do this to remove large patches of my bubble algae and GHA if it gets out of control. VERY effective and has yet to harm any coral I've tried it around (Arguably only Acans, Duncan's, toadstools and blastos)....
