Hi there,
This is 100% a RANT. Sorry about that, I just had to get this off my chest as a former Zoa fanatic and collector.
I've been off forums for 3-4 years now, but I decided to jump back on here to research something recently and went to the livestock forum I saw that the entire reefing community seems to think that Bozo's Birthday still exists, when in reality they are selling Antimatters as Bozo's. I obsessively grew Bozo's for a long time when they were $500-1000PP, I ended up losing all livestock in 5 separate systems back in 2018 due to a power outage during a heatwave. But I tracked Bozo's after that and slowly saw them vanish from the hobby. The last polyp I found online or in-person I happened to discover while looking thru the tanks of iFragit. He had a few polyps, but they were the last ones I could ever find again. People messaged me for years after asking for them.
Just for background, I had some of the first Bozo's ever sold, got them directly from Mike (RIP) and I grew hundreds of them, which is hard because they grow slow and require colder water to thrive long-term. I also had antimatters. I get it, they look basically 100% identical in photos, but in person, they have wildly different sizes, textures, and shape. Bozos are huge and fat with a very matte center and with really long thick robust skirts, they grow super slow. Antimatters are smaller and borderline weedish.
Below is a video of my early zoa collecting days, where at 3:41 you can see two huge disks of bozo's and you can see how fat they are compared to an antimatter. On a side note, at the beginning of the video you can see the first exospheres I found at a fish store for $5 which eventually I named them and sold 100's of them before they succumbed to the same crash that killed my bozos and the rest of my zoas. It's my opinion that if Bozo's where still around today they would still fetch a decent price as they were robust and hardy but also slow growing and particular in regards to their conditions.
