Are my Anemones trying to tell me something?

In 3 days time, I've had 2 Anemones find their way into a Nero 5.

I put them in the tank about 3 weeks ago with a pair of clown fish that had taken up residence. But I put them in a corner of the tank where a Fox Face and Saddleback had apparently claimed.

There was lots of pushing and shoving of the Saddleback and Fox Face by the clown fish. This was going on among the two Anemones in question.

I'm not sure why this happened. My guess would be that the Anemones were looking to get out of the way of the territorial struggle and found their way in to the Nero?

I know Anemones are not "thinking", but, they are sensitive to the environment they are in.

No the nems weren’t moving to get out of the way. They tend to sting first and ask questions later. My bet is they were unhappy with the lighting, flow or something else. I have an established tank and sometimes a nem will take a walk. And end up chopped up. You need nem guards. I have two crossflows so I just have the one on the nem side turn off at night, this won’t help daytime walkers. But I found on the crossflow that the guards limited the flow too much

These aren't the first Nems in the tank. And yes, I understand that Nems move around the tank seeking suitable light and flow. It was just the coincidence of both moving into the power head within 3 days.

Whatever the reason, they're both diced now.

The power head is the Nero 5, which comes with guards. But in my experience, those guards don't help with Nems.

Thank you for the reply!

Does the guard look like this? If not then not a nem guard

That isn't the guard that comes with the Nero 5. Well, at least it isn't the guard that came with mine.

That looks like an after market guard. If so, it leaves me to wonder why AI wouldn't make the guard that comes with it the same way?

Those tiny holes look like that would be restrictive to flow.

Powerheads and crossflows don’t come with appropriate nem guards. There may be other options than the picture I posted. Yes they can restrict flow but they save a Nems life! LoL

Anenomes will move to where they are happiest.
