I was just sharing that because there’s so much info from difference sources that’s sometimes is hard to understand. Same goes for our hobby. Btw can’t wait for your results on the special blend as is one of the products I use.
Did they send you that care package for free? Asking for a friend.

I do think testing of product is important but it’s also important to share if they do what is advertised in the bottle label.
Do those tests. Consider yourself triple dog dared.

And if I may paraphrase Randy's point from earlier today, what "they" say the bottles of juice will do may lead to an outcome that's other than favorable to your corals.

They did. Did your friend took the time to read the reel? Why is that relevant?
That's something the FTC suggests you should identify when mentioning that you "can’t wait for your results on the special blend as is one of the products I use."

If I had the need to do it I for sure would. After listening to Eli at the club presentation helped me understand it a bit more. I just don’t need it to test any products at this time.

And? That's band, not pox.

White Band Disease
Appearance: Produces a distinctive white band where the coral skeleton has been denuded. This band typically progresses from the base of a coral branch upward toward the tip.
Affected corals: Primarily affects Acropora cervicornis and Acropora palmata.
Progression: The disease spreads along the coral colony in a band-like pattern.

White Pox Disease
Appearance: Causes irregular white patches or blotches on the coral, resulting from the loss of coral tissue.
Affected corals: Primarily affects Elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata).
Progression: The disease creates patchy areas of tissue loss on the coral.

Serratia marcescens specific info: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3157384/

Consider bringing personal experience to the table. I think you have a whole slew of bottles you could test, yes?
Like I say I have no need to test the bottles I use. When I have the need I would.

Ah so now you’re going on a different rant. I have stated all that was given to me. Have you?
This ain't a rant. Just an observation, and I apologize if you've mentioned it elsewhere on R2R.

Do I? I do. Thems the rules.

Bold for emphasis. Which is why I mentioned paid staff. The FTC is obviously aware of the changing dynamics of the internet and how content is consumed. There are no other insinuations of my posts.

If this is the case where does he mentions he got the lights free on this post.

Based on whether or not money can be made

No real science is going to be done on these bugs to see if they are "good or bad" for corals in home aquariums

There's no money in it

If any scientists are studying any of these bugs, it's to get a pharmaceutical that causes a 3 month engorgement of human mammary tissue

Reef hobbyists will need to do the science if it is to be done, as dirty as that is.

Aside, I just got 3 more bottles of bugs this morning from BRS. Edit, 4 bottles, accidentally bought a "freshwater" bottle

There is money for researching things for the sake of knowledge and implications outside of money making goals. For example, conservation is one that isn't directly about money.

I’m aware of the FTC transparency expectations and those of social platforms. I’ve taken to starting my sentences with, “I got this for free, so consider that when you read what’s next, but…”

“Paid” is everywhere, and should be as bold as possible.

here's a study most of us should already know of that charts the ammonia resolve rates for the common bottle bac strains, one of the first good/updated ones in fact.
Lots of microbiology spurred off that thread, and not once did we ever care what clades were at work. *not that I think that's bad to know/discern/read in tests, it's just not necessary to know to grow corals long term or for any aspect of practical reefing. I myself would not change recommending these top brands for cyclers, regardless of what clades are found after sampling.

even if a pathogen gets in a bottle mix, the reason I wouldn't cancel them into perpetuity is: there's likely much vibrio in my reef just the same that's never seen bottle bac. comes with the territory, we assume with our aseptic materials handling techniques picked up along the way.

would I read the paid reports to see what strains were in effect, sure that would be neat to know but to me it's incidental. that above is useful useful useful.

one extrapolation tested from that thread we can all plainly see is that by day ten wait time, pretty much any bottle bac strain used works fine for ammonia control.

waiting day ten is such as evener for all these back and forth details we do in cycling...in reflection we can all now see that the old cycling charts from books, from fifty years ago that 100% in unison show ammonia dropping by day 10-12 and staying that way thereafter, knew what was up in our hobby.

studies like that above reveal that 10 day wait pattern back to us. since the release of that thread, I've been running a separate cycling thread where nobody tests anything and we simply start reefing after day ten wait of using bottle bac. as of page 50 and 100+jobs, 100% safe reefing and 2-3 passed seneye audits included as well.

what that thread did for reefing:

see pages 5-6 onward, actual Dr. Tim speaking. how often do we see that here, q and a from him.

I used that short time to try and extract/confirm with him alternate sources of bacterial inoculation in our tanks that does not come from bottles, and methods of feeding/sustenance acquisition that bacteria can use if we're not directly feeding them. that's tidbit gold, it affects what we are driven to purchase in reefing.

if we're trained that cycles stall, then millions of bottles of insurance bacteria will be sold, just in case.

but if we're trained that no cycle ever stalls, because aquatic bacteria were doing fine for millennia before we arrived on set, then we can safely use bottle bac one time, and a pinch of feed, and counting 10 days, and no test kits, to cycle any reef tank that ever wants to post up. free. that's an impact

we can see basic utility from common bottle bac strains, ability to quick stock tanks as needed ethically for ammonia control.

**if we read the details of that experiment we see a unique thing/action that no other testers for bottle bac have done: the 100% water change trick. I'll let readers discern why that was done--> has to do with implantation rates per maker, a big deal for reefers who value surface area.

ever seen a self-building cycle charted out, no food added, no bottle bac (the very things I'd discussed with Dr. Tim on page 5 onward)= how long does a set of rocks just sitting in saltwater take to self cycle unassisted>?

see page 101 MSteven's work from that thread.

in that thread are the useful, handy, impacting science bits in my opinion.
