Im not a fan of black tangs (Infact I really have a disliking towards them). But I was intrigued if people who got them still have them as I never see anyone showing theirs off. Or is that due to it just becoming ‘another fish’ and not staying as a ‘rare’ fish that you love more than the others?

It just seems that everyone shows them off for the first few months then… silence, as if they dont matter or even exist anymore.
Is this just because you’re over it and it’s no longer rare?

I mean, I see Achilles being shown more often (even years after establishing) and they’re more uncommon than rare now. But only see photos of blacks for 2-3 months then no more.

Even better photo of the abomination;

It’s just black and bland! A gemmatum is nicer (albeit I have my own conflicts with them… I think the only Zebrasoma I like are Purples and the two Sailfins).

I'd rather get 10 scopas tangs for the same price. Much better fish.

Over here I could get around 56 of these guys at the cost of 1 black… if I had the tank I’d do it and watch people find it ugly over a black that never gets photographed.

I only find 7” gem tangs worth keeping at the current price level…., otherwise it’s just a small tang with lots of dots. Prefer to get a blue box fish instead…, but of course, that can nuke a tank so it’s no good either at any price.

Honestly, they're not the worst. The powder tangs are far uglier in my opinion. Would I spend $600> on one? no. I'd spend at most like $60 on one, and even then I'd prefer a Scopas. But they are considerably more attractive to me then clown, powder brown, etc.
