Just wanted to share that I’m finally seeing biota yellow tangs stocked at an LFS in my area (New Orleans)!! They had 5 of them about silver dollar size for $180 each.
I am very excited to see this and think I will finally be pulling the trigger on one. They had great color and were so stinking cute.

I love seeing more captive bred fish available in retail spaces. Unfortunately I’ve spoken to a few store owners who seem to hold a grudge against captive bred fishes. They see it as a trend or simply not needed and lament the days of cheap abundant wild caught animals. I for one am exclusively purchasing CB fish any more. I feel much better about being in the hobby with CB as an option.

I actually noticed the same thing at one of my LFS last weekend. They are dedicating a rack of tanks to captive bred saltwater fish. It will be interesting to see what they bring in.
Oh that is Fantastic! I’d love a dedicated section with only CB where I shop. I feel like you’d eliminate a lot of disease/parasite exposure that way. I’ll always quarantine, but I do have more faith in CB not bringing in sickness to my systems.

My LFS has had them for a while now I ended up getting one during a sale. $180 is a good price. They are normally $250 at my LFS. I also got a pair of Biota Mandarins from my LFS.

One of my LFS has been stocking biota bred fish for a while now. I think the yellows were going for $180 last time I was in. I've seen gold flake angels and they have a disbar regal angel currently. I've seen the little mandarins there also.

I'll mention this to my LFS who sells a lot of tank bred clown types. Always loved to have yellow tang but my 65g tank just isn't suitable.

Very cool. Yeah, at $180 I’m feel like it’s hard to pass up. Still not a “cheap” fish. But I’ve seen old fish from people trading them in to LFSs for $500. I’d Much rather have a juvenile that I can enjoy for many many years.

What I’d really like to see are CB filefish in stock. They are sooo cool.

I’d love a bigger tank to get a school but I’m working with a 75g currently so I think I’ll stick to one.
I also have a 75 just got ayel. tang from biota. I am not happy with the fish they sent thoughl he lat line and I am stuck with having to take extra time to get him back to health
