I was just taking some pics the other night and noticed mine have developed some white. It's only visible under certain lighting and to be honest I had never noticed it until I was reviewing the images. I'm just posting these to share but I do hope they color up. I'll try to remember to update here if they do color up. I added three on 3/26/24. I can't swear these are 3 seperate fish, it may be two. The tanks is pretty active with a lot of fish so it can be hard to track them.

Both Biota tangs, arrived beginning of February 2023. Picture is today. Took a few weeks but colored up wonderfully. I fed whatever was on their website, they munch dki pellets, tdo everything, ocean marine green seaweed, rods food, mysis, my finger when it presents formula one and prime flake. They love to eat.

Sometimes if they're a bit stressed they can develop some minor HLLE after arriving. Be sure you don't have any stray voltage in the tank and you're rinsing any carbon well. Feeding a mixed diet should also help aleviate any issues.

Funny you say that. I was thinking of reaching out to you about the hlle. I have been noticing it in the two larger ones recently. The smaller one is not showing any. I feed a mixture of the dk pellets from you, mastick, PE mysis, rods original, formula 1 and 2 pellets, sustainable aquatics hatchery diet and nori. More frozen than pellet. I don't think it's stress because I've had them over 2 months and added them to the tank first and left them alone for a few weeks before adding the other fish. I see no signs of stress. They are actively smimming and grazing on the rocks all day. I do not run carbon and have no stray voltage. This is from the other day. Do you think this will be permanent? I know I saw some early ones that had it but thought the issue had been resolved. This is from 2 days ago. The other one is a bit worse

Are you seeing any aggression among eachother or with other fish? We have ultimately fixed the issue by sending them out a bit larger and imrpovements but all tang can develop it under the right conditions. It doesn't look like it's developed much so mixing in some extra veggies or we've had clients have success with soaking some feeds in dha or selcon or similar

Just an occasional tail smack here and there. I've seen no chasing. They actively swim around with the other fish, no hiding. I have a hippo, naso, purple, convict, and vlamingii, along with the 4 yellows in this tank. In another tank I have an adult yellow and two spot bristle tooth. These tangs have been with me for years, the oldest being 7 years. This is the first time I have ever seen any signs of HLLE on a tang in my tank. I add selcon and vitachem to the frozen food. Not sure what the issue is since it's only 2 of the three and none of my other tangs have ever exhibited it.

This is a recent video that shows the normal behavior. It's a very peaceful tank actually.

It is the end of Week 3 for my Biota yellow tang. Has a little bit more color not as much as I had hoped. Has definitely gotten bigger since the first day.

I can't speak to their Yellow Tangs but their Pink Squares took a couple months in my care to color up. They arrived small obviously but took to all forms of food right away. It is just part of growing and age. Feed quality food, a variety, and you will see.

To be honest in my opinion, and experience, it is something that we don't get to see when buying wild fish. The whole aging and growth change. It is an interesting process to behold.

I feed LRS reef, nano, frozen PE mysis, brine, prime reef, and a mixture of pellet. Hikkari A, S, TDO small, medium, and PE mysis. Algae is nori green, purple, and fresh or life macro (sea grapes). Obviously this isn't all for the anthias but other fish I have as well. Biota's gold lined rabbit is a algae eating machine.

BTW - thank you for sharing, and updating, the Yellow Tang progress. Beautiful fish and glad that they are captive bred/raised.

A little late but about a month out. Noticeable yellow still not as vibrant of a yellow compared to my yellow citron goby.
