it says they use a chlorine compound to destroy bacteria and microorganismsEvery municipality is different... sorry. You an also get a test kit.
very good to know! do you use the 4 stage value rodi system?I have two BRS systems, one for my home drinking RO and one for my tanks. I picked them simply for one reason alone. It's open source. Which means, BRS doesn't limit you buying special filters for their unit, whereas there are many on the market where do to proprietary design, you have yo use the manufacturers filters and they can get away with possibly charing the customer more. With any BRS system, you can buy any 10 inch filter, or carbon blocks and drop them into the canisters and they will work as intended.
I'll have to look into that one! never heard of it beforeMany years ago, I purchased my first RO/DI system from AirWaterIce.com. The owner was very helpful in assisting a new customer that didn't know much of anything about RO/DI systems. I'm _still_ buying from AirWaterIce. Just changed out my membrane and all of my filter media a couple of weeks ago.
There's nothing wrong with BRS RO/DI systems, but AirWaterIce is at least as good on quality, and has some more flexible solutions. My RO system provides me with clean drinking water, clear ice cubes, etc... and then passes back through my two stage DI for the aquarium. Works for me
Call this number: General Inquiries: (561) 338-7300. Ask for water works / water engineering / water department (whatever the town calls it). Ask the person from the water department to confirm the disinfection method, chlorine or chloramines. They won't be using both, I'm betting it's chloramine based though by the wording used.
it says they use a chlorine compound to destroy bacteria and microorganisms
where did you find that? Some quick googling and it appears they're using chloramine as standard, and twice a year pushing a high concentration of free chlorine through the mains as part of the flushing program. This will impact your decisions, and typical time of use for the system. Don't run the RO when they're actively flushing your area main, I believe in the states as well they have to give you notice of non-emergency main flushing maintenance schedules.

This is also a good note for people, if there is a water main break or repair going on near where you live, take heed of the water. After a repair the mains must be flushed and chlorine levels will be elevated for a short period of time. It could be enough to bypass your typical carbon removal and damage the RO membranes.
does it remove chloramines?By testing different RODI's from different manufactures I got stuck on the SMART RODI from Coralvue.
I got this thing running for over three years, it will tell you when you need to replace a filter due to smart controller it has.
Programming how much water you want to filter, pressure loss and the whole system shut down as you won't burn up you pump, and many more helpful gadgets
Filters last as long as your incoming water is high in TDS from the getgo.
Mine last about 9 months and I push about 1000 gallons every month through it, I just replace the sediment filter every week.

awesome thank you! will add one of those to my list! That icecap unit is pretty cool, but if your budget doesn't stretch that high don't sweat it. It doesn't make any better/purer water than a BRS, Buckeye, or <insert brand here> unit.
Since you have chloramines, make sure you get one of these as your carbon block. A regular carbon block SHOULD work, but won't last as long.

does it remove chloramines?
Does the Coralview auto backflush? The next one I get will have auto backflush.
I wish it was offered without the booster. We have 100+psi in our hood so don't need a booster pump.
