It may be worth a shot? What are your nutrients running at now. Maybe get a baseline and experiment to see if it the lower flow has a significant impact on your testing levels and how the corals respond.

So far so good! How do you like the 4 nero’s?
Thanks!Wow tanks looks amazing. I keep kicking myself for not getting one of these tanks instead of my 120.
I really like my Diamond Goby, but he does make a mess with sand sometimes. Thanks!
I often find myself just standing in front of it and watching! Truly blessed to be able to put this aquarium together!
Now if the cyano would just hurry and go away... I need a sand sifting fish... Goby? Jawfish? Any recommendations??
I’ve been doing a lot of research and I think I’m dealing with Dinoflagellates ;Yuck I need to get my hands on a microscope to see if I can identify what variety it Is.
Let the fight begin!
1. Get my nutrients up.
- Quit dosing NoPoX
- Ceased auto water changes
2. Reduce the lighting.
- Turned off the white T5s
- Adjust to a shorter ”day”. (Unfortunately, the tank is exposed to ambient sunlight and we are quickly approaching 20 hours of daylight here in Alaska!).
- At some point I may need to do a 3-5 day total blackout.
3. Deploy UV Sterilizer
- I went back and forth as to what brand and size to get- Pentair, Lifegard, AquaUV. 25w, 40w, 55w. It all came down to what I could fit behind the tank and how fast I could get it! So, I ordered the 25w Aqua UV unit from BRS. It‘s rated for 150 gallons and only 20” long (stepping up to the next biggest and every one is 36”+!). It should be here Monday and I’ll run it straight out of the display with a spare Jebao pump. After I get the Dinos in check, I’ll plumb it in to one of my returns.
4. Dose bacteria.
- Dr. Tim’s Waste Away
- Microbacter7
- Vibrant
Wish me luck!
We're on the same boat. Found some in mine as well even with feeding 4 times a day and 20+ fish... Best of luck
