possible there are some pods living on the coral that the damsel is snacking on? I've never seen a damsel try to eat coral, that's surprising! I have a damsel in my frag tank and he's a model citizen

Been watching him do it all day. Took the camera out for one of the beatings. So weird to me as well.

To me it looks like its picking at something on the coral, not picking at the coral itself

I have not seen mine nip at any coral that I’m away of.

Edit: If I move a gray to a spot it doesn’t like it will tumble it away and that is annoying.

I have a lemon damsel that picks at one goniopora. Doesn’t bother the others.

I’ve dipped the Goni multiple times and find no pests on it. I just had to move the gonipora to another tank so it can recover

You'd think. This guy has it out for the sinularia though. Every time it opens up, the Azure will run over and take a nip. It's not opening up anymore. Painnnnn :'(

Wow now I have to watch mine. Every once in a while my Duncam will retract but I was thinking it caught some pods or something.

Glad you got it caught and the coral is doing good.

My LFS was shocked as well. I showed them the video and everything. Luckily, I WFH, and my tank is directly next to my desk, so it was easy for me to find the culprit. I think his replacement will eventually be a Golden Assessor (assuming I can find one) :grinning-face-with-sweat:
