Looking at ATI but not sure which one to get. Tank is 120 48x24x24
Not sure if I should go with the 153 or the 102.
Goal is primarily SPS. I plan to sprinkle in zoas, acans down low.
light will be mounted about 16" from the surface.

Depending on the shimmer from the pros, also considering flanking it kessils.

Any opinions are appreciated.

What did you go with in the end? My tank has similar dimensions and I’m debating the exact same question 102 vs 153.

Leaning towards the 153 but Afraid that the 153 will have too much light spill or cook my coral.

I got to see a 102 in person and was not impressed at all. The cost to jump up to the next size was way more than I wanted to spend. I ended up going with the Orphek Natura. I have had the Orphek Icons in the past and have had goods luck with them. 2 will cover but 3 will blanket the tank nicely.

This is not to trash ATI, I think that are great lights but I don't think the cost justifies it

Interesting, if i understand you correctly, you mean that, the 102 did not provide enough light and would need to go to the 153?

If so, that’s useful info to know. I have not heard of the orphek natura, will check it out.

What was the concern?
it was very dim. To my eye, it didn't seem to have much color pop, kind of dull but with some shimmer. Maybe that can be adjusted. I didn't have access to the app.

I can't tell you what kind of PAR it was producing. I didn't have my meter but The light was at 100% but it seemed dim to me.

I have had the older model Straton and I liked them better. Much more brighter! I think the older model had a lot more LED's so that could be why.

I think the Marketing of these light are geared towards the type of coral you have. I think for SPS the higher number LED version of the Pros would be necessary. Once I seen the price tag and how many lights I needed, I stopped researching so I want to be careful how I express my opinion about them.

Please see my reply to Randy.

To my eye, it was very Dim. All brands of lights have their own spectrum / par/ intensity settings. It was over a 40 breeder so for all I know that light was perfect for that application. but again, it seemed very dim to me

Tbh that probably isnt the best application for that light being the lighting footprint is put at 28"x24" for sps main tank. 36"x 18"x16" isnt the tank this light is usually meant for.

Im a bit wary of orphek right now due to the melting lens and led burnout issue. Im just passed the dreaded 2.5 years with my icon compact and had multiple leds burnout and melt lenses when i run their recommended program at 80% max and havent gone above it. Getting the replacement leds shipped to me now ($58 for shipping) so we will see if these ones burnout in another 2.5 years

From what I understand, the new Natura are different. They are using 6 watt Leds and run at a lower wattage. I never had any issues with burnout for my Icons but mine were running at 47%.

good to know, didnt realize they updated/upgraded leds. Thought of the natura as more of a separate option than a real upgrade but im probably wrong. It was burnout and leds burning their own lenses which was concerning. The white leds were the ones that burned lenses but idk which specifically.
