I run G5 blues in my frag tank and straton on my display... I run fluorescent mode in the last couple of hours, and honestly unless I’m comparing side by side the blue pop factors looks wild on both lol.

and the BUT which is a win in straton’s book is I can get a much more 20k/ almost day light look from the stratons then I could from the G5 blues (I could have just bought the pros too I guess...)
I try to find the best setting for the fauna marin us style with 2 stratons over my sps lps tank (100x70x60 cm) Actually I run 4 hours sps plakativ, one hour lps/sps and then 4 hours blue. (60-70%, 9 inches above water) With the radions the violett and uv is full on. The fluoreszent mode of the straton is without uv. Why??? What is better? Does anybody run the straton exactly as the radion g4 pro???

What are you keeping? I have clams/SPS, so I’d be wanting ~350+ PAR about 20-30cm deep.
Have a little bit of everything from clams to Acro's to softies but mostly sps. Clams and acros are happy 36 inches below the lights yet have montis 18 inches below lights yet all are happy.

Hey anyone having a problem with the latest firmware update? I updated to the latest firmware and everything was fine for the first few days, but then one-day I made a small tweak to the intensity and when I went to download the configuration to my local PC I got this strange screen pop-up asking me to identify the application that I wanted to associate with the configuration file. I tried a different laptop and sure-enough I got the same problem. Now I can’t save my config file to my local pc. Anybody experiencing this - fixes? Thxs

So i was almost going to buy 2 Stratons for my Reefer 350 . Went to my LFS because i knew they had one over a tank . After a long chat with all of the workers , my will to buy those lights shrunk .
None of them was happy with the Light . They have Ati Hybrids / sunpower / powermodules and Sirius in the System but they all agreed on the Sirius . They weren´t happy with the Light . Coloration and Growth was almost non existend . Well i saw the Coral under the Lights and they also didnt look really good :S
Also the Lights was really Hot , you could still touch it but not for long . My guess is , that there´s something wrong with the Light or Setting as other User´s have great experience with the Lights . But i was a bit shocked and didnt buy the Light yet . Whats your Opionion on that ? Maybe i can tell my LFS and they get different results .
Sadly I have four over my 365G mix reef and I am NOT getting good polyp extensions on my LPS’s and growth is very slow on my SPS’s. Now grant it, my tank is only one year old so I keep blaming it on “new tank syndrome” - I hope this is the case. Right now I can’t say these are great lights for coral growth and color. Though as everyone points out they ppints-out they put out huge par and look cool.

This is very curious - I just checked my notes with a ‘mq-510 I was getting 500PAR on the centre floor of a 24” deep tank (note I was running three in a row), and 700par at about 12” down…. This was 100% on SPS plakativ I’ve since turned it down to max 85%.

also it’s never hot to touch, just slightly warm and I live in Australia not a cold country!

to be even clearer these measurements were made with my net cover ON!

I keep two tenuis - homewrecker and walt Disney at 12” down and both have developed good colours, with the homewrecker developing orange tips since I went to 85%.

Your tank is absolutely stunning - I am completely jealous but also even more frustrated. Here’s why….I’ve got four Straton lights over my 365G mix reef tank and my corals just don’t seem to be happy with the lights. My LPS’s don’t fully open unless I put then in shanty areas and the par where I place my SPS is between 50-150. How is it that you are getting such amazing color and I assume growth on you LPS’s? I have had my water ICP tested multiple times and it always comes-back with everything being well within range for each element. BTW…I am also running a bare-bottom tank. Would you mind sharing your lighting program with me and anything else you have learned? I so so want to like these lights!

Thanks I run basically sps colour for 3-4 hours at 85-95% the rest is ramping up and down to lps/sps, lps and then blue settings, totally time with ‘real light’ is about 12 hours.

did you start with dry rock as well? Bare bottom and dry rock are very hard, and making sure you have some nitrate and phosphates (I kept bottoming out first year). Honestly the first year was tough a lot of unexplained growth issues etc. i had to stop fiddling but also get a critical mass of corals.

best thing I ever did was get rocks from my very successful friends tank to seed mine.

tank is about 21 months old now and only just starting to be mature in my view.

I had a couple of questions on my setup, I think this is quite good, I ramped to 100% before but noticed some bleaching on my LPS so cut it back. The white dots are my own mix I like which are a bit of a day light colour with more blue and reds than the preset SPS.

Ah I thought you might be dry rock bare bottom. Can I ask how much coral density you have? I would suggest finding a local reefer who you trust (can’t avoid pests completely) and ask nicely for a few rocks to seed.

I have approximately 6-8 LPs and 14 SPS. The LPS I would give a B rating and the SPS corals a D rating. The SPS corals have been in the tank now for over 8 months and haven’t grown at all (with the exception of a couple of Montiporas) while the LPS are corals are growing albeit slowly.

Get suggestion on getting some rock that I trust. I did just that a couple of months ago and go some premium aqua-cultured rock from KP Aquatics. Sadly, 15lbs was not enough to seed 200+lbs of dry rock in a 365G tank.

Update…This week I took the decision to pullout all of the Marco Dry Rock and will be ordering 250lbs of live rock, most likely from KP Aquatics - really helpful folks with great live rock. I’m also going to go with 200 lbs of Caribsea Special Grade sand and abandon my dream of a bare-bottom tank. Another problem with Marco Rock is how the rock deteriorates and leaves a white film constanlty on the bare bottom and it looks awful. I siphon it all out one day and 48 hours later the white film is back. I know this is going to be a PITA project and will put my existing fish and coral at risk, but the bigger PITA is trying to salvage the MarcoRcok. So discouraged and frustrated, but also excited to hit a “reset button”

Welll I am truly impressed that you ”stayed-the-course” and were able to get your tank thriving with dry rock with a bare bottom - BRAVO . I took a decision this week, that I’m going to pullout all of the MarcoRock and redo the 365G tank with 250lbs of live rock. It’s going to be PITA project but hopefully less of a PITA than what I’ve been dealing with for one year!
