SO I got the go ahead to finish out the basement in to a man cave.

I want to move one of my tans down there a RS 300XL LPS tank. I have a 200 peninsula as a room divider that is a peaceful FOWLR..

I am tossing around the idea of a monster DIY build in the 500-1400 gal so I canhave all the fish I have ever wanted. it would be an extension of my current FOWLR but with large angels tangs and large wrasses. sounds nice right!

I think i will turn the IM 200 peninsula in to a planted FW or something like that.

so the question is are there any DIY plywood tanks here on R2R??

Looks like a fun project. There are several people on YouTube who build plywood tanks. I would do some research and go for it.

yeah I have been watching a few over the months. I am way way out from even starting the tank build. was just curious if we had any plywood tanks on R2R.

I like the inside out or plywood bottom over the classic DIY build style. IDK tho not a ton of people have done them so there is more help with the classic style.

Very interesting "hybrid" construction method. I really like the idea of a substantial metal frame that is actually structural. I think I would go with the best stainless steel however rather than "a-loo-minium" (I could listen all day to the down-under accent). If you find the courage to try this method, I'll definitely be a follower! I absolutely believe this method, or a refined version of it, is worth serious consideration. Not at all crazy in my opinion, even though I'm a 100% glass guy myself up to 1000 gal. and concrete/glass or concrete/acrylic above that.
