The fixture appears to be set up with two full spectrum, and two blue Plus. So my idea is 2 order 2 full spectrum, one blue plus and one actinic. Just wondering if this is a reasonable approach

Im no lighting expert but I have a t5 hybrid with 2 channels I have 2 coral+ in 1 and blue+ and actinic in the other. the 2 coral+ is too white for me and prefer the blue'r tones, shows less green that I try to pretend that does not exist :p and the blues show your corals a little better. ...FYI if the bulbs are old you will most likely need to swap them out (ATI has a thread here discussing bulbs), good news is bulbs are cheap, so try out different combinations to see what you like. As far as Aesthetics, my aim is a balance. Not too blue not to White. But my main goal is health and growth.

Hi, I just acquired a 30 gallon bow front tank where they stand and a T5 fixture for free! I'm very excited to say the least. It appears that the T5 fixture is very well built with a heavy duty aluminum housing with a glass cover to protect the bulbs.

As far as replacing the bulbs I was considering two times daylight, 1 blue Plus and one actinic. Does this sound like a reasonable approach?
Bump.

Any recommendations for bulb combination?

I OPPOSE this site !! It is because of Dana Riddle that I got rid of every light I had and went to orphek lighting exclusively which has cost a million dollars. . . . . . .

BUT . . . . . . . . .

Ive been in this hobby 32 years and its the Best Darned advise I've received in a couple of decades. My corals have taken off in a matter of two weeks and with this new tank I could not be MORE Ecstatic. Just look at the fish and coral color below !!!

I am very happy to hear of this for future lighting reference and Dana, don't you go recommending something better that Orphek now that I have about $4000 into New lighting !

Is this a good light for a 20 gallon tank for 2 clownfish?

Kessil Tuna Blue A80 LED Light w/ mini gooseneck
You really don't need special lights for clown fish but those Kessil will created an amazing shimmering, like you are looking directly under a coral reef in the ocean

With the addition of @Dana Riddle to the community we have created a new lighting specific forum. We still have the LED Lighting specific forum and will keep that as is for now. General lighting threads usually have been created in the general equipment forum but now will have it's on forum. We will begin to move lighting threads to this new forum.

Please post all lighting specific topics accordingly!
