Hello all

Is there anyone using a DIY reagent for KH Guardian ?
I live in Brazil and here the reagent is 120 dolares that makes the unit operation impracticable.
I know that is a tiltration with an acid but what is the concentration ?

Thanks in advance

I just made a batch myself this week morning. It was coming in about 0.20 dkh lower but that was due to measuring discrepancies since my scale didn’t read past the tenths mark. Ordered a new scale to make the next batch but very happy with the outcome.

That sounds unbelievable, but they even put it in the manual!

Would this be a violation of the Magnusson Moss act to lock a device for not using their reagent? It prohibits tie in sales.

Seems like a horrible policy to me. I can see why it might violate a warranty to use your own fluids but to have the device lock up seems crazy.

I’m also not sure how it can know unless the fluid is way off from what it should be.

Glad I didn’t buy a second unit. I guess I’ll use mine until it dies but I have been using my own reagent for quite some time now. I’m on my third 1L batch at this point.

maybe this is programmed into the new units only.

That error code is not listed in earlier manuals, you may be correct that it’s a newer “feature.”

The Guy wrote "... Since two years..." so at least two years old unit.... Probably they embedded this feature in the last firmware version.....

Wow- it looks like they decided to take the John Deere approach to customer service. What a real shame.

I am starting to think it’s BS like they put this out there to stop people from trying

One how can it measure viscosity when ur mixing it with 1500ml of water when it’s only six grams itself @Randy Holmes-Farley how would they be able to tell the difference of the liquid when it is watered down that much?
