Moving into a new home and thinking of getting an auto shut-off valve (that automatically detects leaks) for the home water line to get the insurance reduction (and peace of mind).

Anyone have experience using one of these valves with a RODI system? I was wondering if they are compatible as I could imagine the continuous flow associated with making a large batch of water could appear like a leak.

Yes we sell a lot of them.

We recommend them is any instance where a leak would cause damage.

yeah you can monitor leaks at the RO with a Neptune Apex and a Leak detector … I had a similar setup
( with the Apex you can couple it with equipment shut off)
And You can extend that leak detector modules cable, I think it’s just a 3 conductor 1/4” jack … maybe 5mm …erh sumthin

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually use something very similar under my kitchen sink and at my laundry machine. This model is actually much more affordable so I'll have to keep this in mind for future applications.

I think I wasn't very clear though - I meant one of these type of systems that monitors your water usage at the main and then shuts off the water if it thinks there is a leak:

I wasn't sure if it would work as I could imagine the constant flow to make a big batch of water would probably look like a leak and cause it to trigger.

Is there a way to configure these? I am just wondering if laundry, dishwasher, sprinklers and someone running bath water would trip it.

Not sure...that's why I was hoping someone could chime in with more info/experience.

I like the idea of having water sensor based cutoffs at the valve for places where I know there is a high risk of leak (like dishwasher and laundry), but something like this seems like it would be pretty great to safeguard against general leaks or if a pipe bursts somewhere when you're on vacation.

I actually have my water mixing station in the garage near my water main cutoff, so I could probably install one of these devices downstream, but I have an unused laundry closet right near my tank I was hoping to move to in the future, just not sure that will actually work with one of these installs.

i work pretty closely with both of those auto detection devices you mentioned and have set up/troubleshooted both an id recommend the phyn over moen just based off of the set up.

so basically to stop it from constantly shutting it off during regular use will be to use it more often to make batches (the reverse osmosis) during the “break-in period”(auto shut off). the first 2 weeks it will closely monitor all your use an it will have too sense water going through for a certain amount of time to it doesn’t come up as irregular flow . so for safety in that area (wherever your moving station is) you’ll get a couple of their “leak pucks” so it can shut off the water in case something drips or starts to leak (tubing, pump, reservoir)
