Honestly, 2.4K was cheap… That fish was meant to be 3.5K but we wanted to sell it.

Oh wow that's crazy!
It’s what people do for a rare fish (I won’t lie, every time someone says about a rare fish being ‘rare’ due to its origin it can annoy me, these guys are only rare due to collection difficulties).

i would like to get 1 from TOP would probs cost me £2600 £2400 for the fish and £200 to tempt them to drive 350 miles which they said they would but if the next 1 they got they put for £3500 i would likely look elsewhere as everywhere else seems to be at the £2000-2500 mark and the site that has just quoted me £2250 seems to have very good reviews too

Yeah that's true. Honestly, even if people will pay a ton to have them, I feel like if they're really difficult to collect, maybe we should just be leaving them in the ocean...

Tell me that this fish is intrinsically worth upwards of $1000.

Great post. I've found that what I like in this hobby and the cost of that item don't seem to be related at all. Some of the stuff I love is super cheap and some of it is off the charts expensive.

Definitely agree with this.
If it has the colour and I like it I’ll grab it (I love this 1” Wartskin Angler we have in currently and it’s tempting to setup a new tank). If it’s expensive but drab I likely ignore it and don’t really like it.
In my eyes, a Black tang is a Black fish with an extortionate price tag.
