David, for the table top, is that stained poplar? Or what type of wood did you piece together?
It turned out well. I have a friend that did stained poplar for his kitchen counters that were jointed together and it turned out very nice.It is stained poplar, 1x2's biscuit joined together. My wife wanted the "zebra" look to it so I cheated a little, knowing poplar doesn't stain evenly. It worked out perfectly because she was happy with it, and when she's happy, I get new tools!!!

Table is beautiful! I am curious why you used shellac? Shellac has an alcohol base and any spills of alcoholic drinks would leave a ring or mark.
