There is an odd clear/ threadlike (sponge?) with tubelike aspect I noticed under my elegance coral and also between one of my large rocks and the back wall. Is this an issue? Feel like it’s spreading in a few places. I don't like how close this is getting to the tissue of the elegance. Assuming not good.

Thinking I should work to siphon off this stuff and check the coral bases?

Below is a photo.....a collage pic of a few different areas in my tank.

No matter what I will pull out these rocks this weekend and siphon off, scrub and use dental pick to extract all. Yet, wanted to still know what it is....this has popped up really fast and in multiple areas.

very stable tank...not a lot of fluctuations
temp 78.8

Fish and corals are doing amazing....opening up, really well, plump tissue, and eating well.

I have not done a water change in 5 weeks due to baby anemone floaters in the tank that sting. (see other thread) - have pulled out 25+ out of tank and have them in a separate small tank. get 3-4 newbies a day. After a trip to the ER for a finger sting and connecting it to the baby nems...I have kept "me" out of tank.

Nope, they are good guys. Usually die off in the display in my experience. I mostly see them in my sump now a days. Sponges are great filter feeders and for eating up silicates in our tanks
You have made my day. I made a ton of water today expecting to have to siphon off different areas of my tank. Now I don't need to use it. My parameters are really good so will leave the tank stable...just do a smaller change.

THANK YOU!!!

Cryptic Poriferan sponge and it can grow steadily and become evasive. To kill, peel off slowly- should stay in one piece. You can also inject with Vinegar and it will shrink but is harmless
