In my build series, I was concerned about fitting everything inside the cabinet. but in reality it wasn’t going to happen. so having an adjoining cabinet for other things was very liberating. I love having reefs in a concentrated cube, but you do not have the unlimited space that you have in bigger tanks. Quality over quantity I guess.

This 50g is my 3rd cube, had a rimmed 90g and a rimless 60g over the years. If I had to get rid of the 120g, I'd go with prolly another 90g cube or a 75g. Just sucks punching light through 30" tanks with anything besides broiler like heat from MH.

Edit: funny you mention about an additional cabinet, I'm digging using 80/20 for the stand, since I can mod to my hearts content.

It's been taking up space since December, lol. Had some family issues so it's been back burner for a bit.

Ex MIL (I'm still good with) does front office for a custom cabinet maker. She's going to do my panels this week. Going to use recessed magnets to hold on the doors.

the dimensions of the stand are fit for the 50G, or sized larger for space?

Went with fit for the 50g, so 24"x24" footprint. Wooden stand is a 24"x30". I'm gonna miss the 6" but I need to lower the profile a bit.
was the downsize due to aesthetics or just to make it fit where you wanted it? I plan on making my stand 30" tall to have more head room in the sump.. i can't stand the cramped spacing underneath my 40B and its an open concept sump lol

Just aesthetics and the wood stand is a bit waterlogged. This stand is 30" high, I feel that is just about the perfect height.

Nah... You can't kill it...
Well... I can certainly kill acropora, lol. Tried a test frag from my maintenance buddy and it went kaput in 5 days, thus I need to do some testing and stabilization. Also I am going through a mini new tank stage due to a LOT of new rock (mainly dry but some from the sumps), plus tap rinsed sand = a nice run of diatoms. Also letting the TDS creep up to 2 didn't help.

Also the usual leaks galore and the dumba#$ moment of the morning, broke the UV due to too many ugga uggas. Also could of been that it was a cheap chinese UV that predated COVID, but we'll never know!

The odyssey continues.

P.S. I think one of my ancient MP40's dry sides are going kaput. What a morning, lol.

Just got in my 1st low buck order from aqua SD to try out some sps....

They made a believer out of me. Beautifully packed, not freezing, I'm more than ecstatic. Got from San Diego to the Long Beach area quick (as it should).

Hope they hold up! Thanks @TeamAquaSD !
