Anemone stuck in shipping an extra day, is it gonna make it

Pictures of nem, he's looking pretty rough. I temp acclimated the unopened bag then placed him in container with tank water.

@Queen City Corals what should I do? It's the Sherman I ordered that ups delayed an extra day. I also emailed you guys heh, i just dunno if I should try placing in tank..

QT tank maybe but I would not put him in display tank. If I had to guess he is not going to make it but stranger things have happened.

It smells a little like sour milk. I have a poor sense of smell so it was prolly worse than a little..

Sherman's aren't exactly hardy.

Yeah, sour milk smell means it's dying or dead. A live anemone should smell like saltwater, or nothing.

Important that you don't open the bag until transferring to clean water. Any drip acclimation with shipped products isn't good.

Didn't drip acclimate. Temp acclimated with bag closed for 20 mins then opened and transfered right away into clean tank water in seperate container

Just gonna say it... This nem isn't melting because of an extra day in Domestic transport.. they are in bags for days cross Atlantic. Old timers used to ship them deflated, 3 day shipping, wrapped in wet paper.

Sherman's are just fancy looking rose BTA. They aren't any less hardy. Id bet this guy was damaged or already sick, prior to shipping.

Since I know my sense of smell is weak I let my roommate smell it and he said it smelt pretty bad so I just tossed it.

Yeah, I've had rock flower nems sent to me by 2-day shipping that didn't care. Unless it got horrendously baked somewhere along the route, an extra day should honestly not have done this. It should have been a bit extra stressed, if that.

Vendor contacted me. 100% blamed ups. Said they would see if ups somehow could refund me? But they did offer a replacement, not store credit or refund by them. I declined the offer, so unless ups wants to give me a check.. hey guys look at my new Sherman! Do you think vendor will use these photos for their website?

Most vendors I've heard of and even hobbiest on here will refund for delayed shipping. It says they aren't liable, but worst I've seen is a partial refund or you just have to pay shipping again. I guess there is a first time for everything...

I mean they offered to send another nem and I just pay shipping. I don't want to do that tho. Actually already sourced an alive rbta from a very nice lfs, cost as much as shipping would have cost getting a replacement that may or may not be a melted mess.. again
