Hey guys, i’ve been getting this browny slimy coating over my glass but predominantly where my zoa is. I initially thought it was the zooxanthellae since it was sort of similar in colour, but now it’s in many more places. It comes right off when i clean the glass, but anyone have an idea to what it is and how to get an easier fix compared to physically taking it out every week

How old is your tank? That looks like regular film algae that occurs on the glass in most tanks - you just need to up your clean up crew and/or continue to manually remove. There's a reason everyone pays big bucks for magnetic algae scrapers ;)

it’s a month and a week old. thank you for help! it’s a tiny 10 gallon i think a normal algae scraper will suffice. or would you still suggest getting a magnetic ? do you have any suggestions on clean up crew which will chow this down. i have 2 tiny dove snails and 2 larger snails and (no idea what type ) and 2 red hermits.

Trochus, ceriths and turbo snail. Also tuxedo urchin a true work horse. I noticed a significant decrease in glass cleaning after installing a uv sterilizer.

A 5 week old tank? Man, you're just at the beginning of the algae phase, lol!
