Having snails such as astrea, nerite, cerith and trochus, mine is totally clear
If sunlight is hitting it from a nearby window, this will be part of the problem as well as any use of tap water

I use RO water, a window exists above the back glass, however, I have blinds that are always shut! I have added loads of snails, but seemingly they always die off - but I feel like that's due to lack of food.

This time of the year , UV is strong and will penetrate shades and blinds and curtains and part of the issue
What is your phosphate level?

It's .25 - you have a valid point about the UV, what do you recommend ?
.25 phos is high. you want .05 - .1
I was referring to the UV from the sun but a UV unit will help. Aqua Ultra violet is good as is Jebao and lifeguard units

When I had phos lower it caused way more algae issued then I have now, but I'll get them lowered a little as this is the highest I've ever ran them

Bumping this thread back up as I continue to fight this fight!

I am trying to lower my phosphate and nitrate as I know that's contributing. I can't get my nyos 160 skimmer tuned to do any good as it will skim good for weeks and then all of a sudden just dump an entire skim cup into the sump.

I have noticed that my magnesium is godly low at like 1155. I am actively bring that back into the 1350 range.

If I remember right, bringing it up to 1400 can kill some algae
