I've been using Nero 7 on my tank for the past 2 months. It is the ONLY powerhead I'm using on a five foot lagoon aquarium and as long as you position it properly - there appear no dead spots and all of my corals look happy (including torches). Here's the video of the tank and the powerhead:

Can you talk about power settings and noise? I have a 7’ x 2x 2 mixed reef tank and hate (HATE) my XF350’s but am scared of spending $1600 on MP60’s to find out they don’t work the way I want. I was thinking maybe 4 of the Nero7’s would be a viable option and would love some thoughts on power.

Interested in the noise of the Nero 7, could you please advise your thoughts on the noise of the unit if any and noise compared to other power heads you have used.

Great video! I love seeing flow in nice looking tanks run by people that know what they're doing since I'm really not sure what I should be shooting for (flow-wise) in my tank.

Can't help with the noise question since I feel like my single Nero 5 (in 40 gallon) is basically silent but I have nothing to compare it to.

Yeah I'm interested in knowing the noise level of the Neros, I've heard mixed reviews :/

If you look at the last few videos on my channel - I document everything I do with my aquariums including how I've mounted the blades. Here's one of the examples:

Any futher feedback on these - setting up a 6 foot tank at the moment, and considering either 2 of these on one side, or 2 MP40's.
I have 5 AI Hydra's so leaning towards the Nero 7 just for compatability.
However i do love the no wires in the tank of the MP40's.

I have two Nero7s on a 5 foot peninsula, both pushing from the overflow side. Upgraded from two MP40s in the same configuration, running both at 90%.

The Neros push much more water running at 80%, in a much wider cone and have the capacity to create flow at the far end of the tank, though I am still supplementing far end flow (for surface agitation) with my old Nero 5s.

They do take some time to break in and had a high pitch but faint whir for the first two weeks, but have been absolutely silent since.

The MP40s were noticeably noisier and didn’t feel as efficient. The built in control on the AI app is also incredibly easy and easily tunable, whereas I always needed to refer to the MP’s manual to make minor adjustments. The AI app just works.

Great feedback, thats really helpfull!

I was thinking i could always add a Gyre pump on the other side of the tank if needed, its just i'm trying to keep the glass clear on that side, alternatively i could add one on the rear wall also on the other side.

Will be a trial and error on the flow i guess.

I really like Nero 7 and have been running it on my tank (just added a second one since it is a 5 footer after all). Having said that I love my MP40s as well. I think it will depend on whether you will be mounting yours on the sides or back wall. For the sides - the wire in or out does not really matter too much, so I think Nero 7 get my vote.

I just got 1 Nero 7 to see how the noise was, as I've heard mixed reviews.
I have it set up on a red sea 750, It does have a slight whir to it at 60%+ which is just bearable for me.
So it's good to hear that when they break in they'll be quieter.

Takes a couple weeks, but mine are now completely silent up to 100%.

How much more noticeable is the Nero 7’s flow compared to the 5?

I have one Nero 5 and an MP10 on the other end. I’m going to replace the MP10 soon because my glass is slightly too thick for it and I have to run it at 100% all the time. It still falls off from time to time and I really hate having to buy new wet sides.

I’ve been nothing but thrilled with my Nero 5, and an MP40 is out of the question. The extra cost isn’t worth the “no cords in tank” aspect to me and that’s not even accounting for replacement wet sides
