I hope I didn't sound like I was criticizing. I was just trying to be matter of fact. I think the post is very helpful and extremely detailed!

I might only need a page or three to get the starter information I'm looking for to supplement what I'm learning here. ;)

I intended to keep the first post updated with links to other posts within the thread that covered as many aspects as possible but I haven't had time to get to them all or back-link to good posts

Good!

Okay, so last question until James chimes in perhaps or maybe until you tell me I'm an idiot and to shut-up and use the gusset! Lol

Could I rotate the tank forward 45°, tape off the surrounding area after prep, and then pour a trough of WO40, similar in fashion to the gusset? ...kind of the a Cromag/Turbo combination, design-wise.

The tape in the picture represents the trough and is 12x12x17mm. I don't if that's sufficient in size, structurally speaking, but that's just what I used.

This link explains the most commonly used solvents: 3, 4, 16, 40.

Except....I don't agree with the description of 16, I would never use this junk on anything needs to hold water. also, it doesn't list 42.

Turbo doesn't cover the solvents or the basics here. He skips that and says this post is for those that are assumed already somewhat knowledgeable.

I couldn't find any discerning difference between 40 and 42 except the mix ratio between the two parts, and work time. And 42 comes in cartridges whereas 40 needs to be hand mixed. Based on the descriptions I've found online, their uses seem to be the same. I've only used 40 so I don't know....

@Floyd R Turbo or @Lowell Lemon may know more.

SciGrip 40 and SciGrip 42 are the same product. The 40 is mixed by the user and dispensed through a PE squeeze bottle with needle tip or any other method the user might prefer.

SciGrip 42 is the same 10:1 adhesive packaged in cartridges (50 ml or 230ml). In order to use the SciGrip 42 you will need the proper dispensing gun and mixing tips. One mixing tip/cartridge is included when purchasing this product. Many users of the SciGrip 42 will purchase an extra bag of tips when working with this product.

SciGrip 42’s advantage is often realized in large volume applications where fabricators do not want to be continually manually mixing adhesive. The proper mixture is controlled by the geared plunger of the dispensing gun and the mixing tip.

The smaller cartridge (50 ml) of the SciGrip 42 is used by fabricators of all sizes that prefer not to have to mix product themselves.

Hi all,
As I have watched this discussion I see you are getting around to the fact that Weldon 42 is the bomb in a repair situation like this one. You may find lesser costly 50 ml and 230 mil guns with the 10:1 ratio you need with this product. With the gun the material is a controled delivery and you can make very nice fillets of material to strengthen a joint. Also the material is delivered almost bubble free in most cases. My distributor lists the 50ml gun for $42.00.

I figured 60cc's would make a fair size "trough" for my repair, but I had no mathematical basis for it's size. I just figured if I had the same amount of contact with each panel as the thickness of the panels that I'd be okay.

After discovering 60cc's is the same a 60ml, you think I could make my repair with one of 50ml cartridge? ...plus the capilary filling of the original damage?

I asked my friend(the owner) of the LFS to see if David Trigger could fix it or recommend a fix for me, but I haven't heard back yet. He originally built it.

Well, he did respond with, "A CRACK????????????????"! lol

Whether it's tenacity or just plain hard headedness, I think I may be getting the hang of this acrylic thing. A huge thanks to @Floyd R Turbo, @cromag08, @Lowell Lemon for helping me out last week and not giving up on this acrylic newbie!

My 16"w×18"d×20"h ATO box is built. Just going to make a lid for it. I Have no idea if it holds water as I want to give it a few days to completely cure. As this is my first project, it will be filled and tested on the driveway. My wife hates water on the floor!!!

Due to its height and because I used 1/4" material, I put some angled cross braces in it to help prevent it from bowing when full. Not sure if it was necessary or if they will even work, but they're in there.

Let me know if you see anything that I should be concerned about. I don't remember reading (although I'm sure it has been mentioned) how to finish the trimmed edges, or if it's even necessary. It's for personal use under a stand so I was just going to leave them "router finished".

Here's a couple shots of the completed box and two different seems. Again, thanks for the help.
