Hello fellow reefer!

I'm super new to this hobby and started this tank. Want to know whats this algae and if its a good algae or a bad algae.

Appreciate all the help I can get!

And also while looking at the algae. Found some white bud. Not sure what is that too.

I'm of the school some algae is expected, so as long as that green portion seems controlled, I'd be okay with it. If it seems getting out of control, then deal with it (Vibrant). When doing water changes, I would siphon it with little hose to get any dead algae out.

Work on QTing, dipping coral frags so you don't have hitchhikers causing surprises in your tank, like the unknown white nub.

Personally, I'd take white nub out and trash it... people say all sorts of things are good and fine... but if I didn't put it in, and it grows out of control, then I'm stuck. If I could have gotten it out when there was just one... I'd have saved so much time and worry. So, I don't know what white nub is, it could be great or horrible, but even great things in huge quantities are bad... Just me, but I'd trash it.

Wanted to compliment you on what seems to be good coralline algae growth! Variances of color, too! Good job. Literally yesterday my AlgaeBarn pink & purple coralline algaes came as I'd like more diversity like you seem to have in coralline. Looking forward to hearing about your successes!

The white nub looks like a harmless tunicate, I have the same green turf algae in my tank it comes and goes not a big deal if it doesn't start bothering coral and taking over the rockwork.
