I never owned a Radion although I know friends/family that do and they seemed satisfied.
After being a die-hard t5 gal I bit the bullet (when 30" T5 bulbs were hard to find) and moved to LED. However, I was overwhelmed by the choices and prices but settled on ReefBreeders Photon v-24 and could not be happier. It came with both a hanging kit or legs included with the light. It adequately lights my 25" high tank and the fixture is 14" above the water surface, which let's me work in the tank without moving the light. This RB photon was significantly cheaper than Ecotech's Radion, which is what sold it for me.

People think I’m a radion hater and I’m really not. I just feel they charge way more than they are worth, and they need many units to become usable.

Xr30 I think is a good light for medium and larger tanks, but they are 1000$ each

Xr15 is a great light for a smaller tank. For larger tanks you need one every 12-18”, at $500 each

You will see people praising the xr15’s but look at the overall light setup on anything larger than a nano to medium tank. How many are they using? What other lights are they using? Do they also have t5 or led bars? The cost adds up. 4 xr15 is $2000 and then someone still needs 250-500$ in led bars? Those bars aren’t for fun. It’s because the tank needed more. Better spectrum, coverage, par, whatever.

I have one fixture over my 75g reef, it covers the entire tank end to end, front to back, and was around 700$ new and I got it used for under $500 And I don’t need to go over 40% power on it
The a8se, a8s or a8pro would fix the price issue. It did for me. 8x3x2ft display

Xr30 g5 for 320.00 each.

How’s the app? Do they make them to emulate the blue?

What is the difference in radion g5 vs g6? I always hear about g4 and g6 but not the 5’s

I wouldn’t gauge the quality of lights based on who uses them. Businesses don’t pay retail prices, and may get manufacturer discounts based on sales volume. With that said, some Reefers like them, some don’t. I have never owned an Ecotech product myself, but have many reefing buddies that do. One complaint with the G6 Radion is that it isn’t intense enough. Some prefer the G5 or G4 lights more.
Yeah they aren't paying $1k per unit, their cost is closer to 50% msrp.

G5 vs g6 is a little different lense design and maybe a little different layout.

Yes they have a blue version, it's actually cheaper then the ones I bought as it uses Chinese brand leds and driver. ( doesn't mean they are bad, just not Cree certified or meanwell branded).
I believe the blue like the se version are about 250.00 each.

Afaict the main difference is the g6 wider spread lensing..Which due to unpopular demand they now offer an affordable replacement lens to make your g6 more g5 like..

G4 is arguably the best of class...according to some. Probably more a matter of opinion.
Price hike didn't help the g5 .

The app is terrible, they do update it often and either break it or fix it. However, if you want a Radion look and don't mess with the App much it's a solid light. Now how long it will last is anyone's guess at this point as they're new. If you check the larger thread the most common issue with this light is just like real Radions users have trouble having it keep the light schedule :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:, I however did not have this issue.

You’re not going to be able to sell a light called an A8SE in the U.K. it reads like a strip club owners private number plate.
