For the lighting change, we settled on 10K. Below is a pic, no filter. With cleaned glass as well the humans are pleased thus far.

Made some light flow adjustments, and also tried an experiment to modify the Avast Marine cannonball (feeder tube cover). I tried a verryy complex method of drilling a few holes in it.. No bueno..

With the feeder in the DT, algae can grow in the feeder tube and clog things. Avast prints these covers for $8, I love the idea (I had made my own cardboard cover prior, but it almost covers too well and allows mold to grow on the food. We need vents! I'll pickup another for $8 and try plan B next time I order food.

Plan B is, make a new plan.

Pineapple sponges also had to be cleared out yesterday..

Little testing today for Monitoring Monday (not as exciting as Mackerel Monday, but it'll have to do).

1000014445.jpg

3 days after a 25% (10g) WC. PO4 is always up (cut back feeding more today though), dKH is spiked, I assume still, since the 3 Melafix doses, 1 month and 5 water changes ago.... Still cannot run the skimmer. This tank typically runs at 8.4-8.8 dKH.

Otherwise all seems business as usual. 10K lighting still in effect, humans are pleased, corals show no changes so far, party on. No filter:

Night time cleanup crew, this is the top right section that has been growing a little red algae or cyano (have not taken time to identify, not concerned). These 2 tiger cowries have been with us from the start, almost 2 years now. Them plus a little flow increase, should be good to go.

PS, Tank wanted to check in..

We had a little melt recently, but snow is back this week so it's time to get Tank's baseline winter trail set, so he can scurry about while I work on the tank. I aim to finalize the ROVAL setup this week - "Not-to-scale Nurburgring" on the left is a fine candidate to convert :winking-face:

This is about what we'll expect for depth later in the season (last year pic, 3-4 ft base). You have to keep up on it..

@Fish Styx , unfortunately DeWalt doesn't make one of these to add to my 20v collection, had to go with the Snow Joe...

Yeah, that's a whole lot of nope. When I was younger, I loved the snow. Now, I need perpetual warmth and sunshine. I'm counting down until retirement in the Philippines.

Nice! I was thinking of getting one last year. You like it? Pros cons?

So far so good! Seems solid and throws powder well. My folks used to have a corded version and the portable unit here is much more convenient. It won't replace any of our main snow removal here (ATV plow & tracked blower), but I wanted something I could easily move to the back yard. And shoveling is sooo 1995.

I'll have more of a review as the season progresses.. :winking-face:

Don't get me wrong, though. I'm looking forward to some snow this season. Just not that much. Also, I will enjoy it from in front of a fire with the pups.
