Welding crocks :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Had a piece of slag jump into my shoe one time from a quick weld with low tops on, never again lol..

Pistol shrimp and Goby, out for their daily walk on the beach:

Tank also wanted to check in to say, if you don't have your Xmas tree up yet you are slacking.

2nd year doing an artificial tree, I'm still trying to rebel.. Little quicker than snowmachining into the woods and hauling one out though..

Definitely not slacking here!!! This is our foyer…We also have our real tree up and decorated in the front room.. we waited for over an hour in the cold to get it the day after thanksgiving.

I’m a slacker. Did Thanksgiving dinner 3 days later and don’t have the tree up. Maybe Thursday .

Speaking of spoiled dogs, this is our second winter with only the 25 lb (he says 20 ) little man and no big dogs to blaze his trail.. Typically we end up with a 3-4 ft snow pack on average but varies, so I am in charge of blazing winter trail now.. 1 ft is down so time to get a groove started.

I'll get better (non-security cam :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: ) photos as the snowpack progresses, but to note this season I've added the Watkins Glen Carousel turn on the right, the Laguna Seca Andretti Hairpin is in the center (left here), and the far left is a not-to-scale version of Nurburgring. Progress to follow..

May I recommend a track reconfiguration to something more similar to the ROVAL in Charlotte? Tree placement is ideal.

@907_Reefer I'd listen to her, she knows these things.

It was 22 degrees here this morning and as I began to get out of my car to walk the ten feet to go inside my office, a cold air hit my face. As it did, I thought of you, and said F the cold and Alaskans are crazy.

Ooohh yes, Tank would love the ROVAL!! :star-struck:

I have room to add it on the left past Nurburgring as well.. Tank likes to pick a different course each walk about so we need options..

I am also looking at electric snow shovels purely for track maintenance... This likely will entertain us both until May :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Yes, it's working. I have this thing where women think of me when they are cold and displeased.

That might cost more than the ROVAL in Charlotte :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

This is a little more my style, but makes too much ice :rolleyes:

I've been looking at the electric snow blowers.. I use a 4' ATV plow and gas tracked blower for the drive but need something more portable for the back...

*** THROWBACK THURSDAY ***

I dug up our old tank pics from a hard drive this week and want to add some in here. This was our first SW tank, ran on the east coast for about a year and a half in the 2012-2013 range. We sold it off when we moved up to AK.

This was a 55g long, no sump. HOB filtration (skimmer), run under an 8-bulb T5. We procured SW from our LFS, and topped up manually with distilled. We never dosed, and never had any big issues.

The key to me here was in the rocks. These were real Fiji live rocks, shipped to our door (now banned as of 2017(?) - and I do not recall the distributor). We picked through them lightly for some hitchhikers, dumped them in, and it was an "insta-tank". Corals thrived (maybe except 1 acro ), fish were happy as can be, including a Mandarin (we did not supplement pods), a Coral Beauty that never ate corals, and a sixline that didn't cause us a problem. We found clam hitch hikers, different worms, stars, polyps, pods, etc. I cringe now looking back at the rock we'll never get again (short of a lucky tank breakdown), hoping the second owner is still running it in their system..

The tank was between 12-16 months old in these pics, enjoy..

Zoas started growing down the rocks in no time. We only added a few frags..

Walt Smith is culturing aragocrete rocks in Fiji mariculture sites, much like TBS does in the gulf. You can get the rock shipped via wholesalers. You gotta get it from the airport, though. When I upgrade, I am 100% ordering it.
