To go with #5..

I have literally pieced my tank together from used equipment or DIY builds. I've tried to keep everything as low cost and efficient as possible. I don't even have matching lights at the moment. Everything has been done with careful planning, watching, and water changes.

Cool video! I agree with all that he covered, most of all from experience. Although I would like to point out that garlic did help save one of my fish (yellow tang) from an ich outbreak (the rest didn't make it), I also started out with everything DIY and pieced together lights and equipment but eventually I got into a really nice affordable aquarium and equipment which has made life easier and brought me more success!

The garlic thing is a tough myth to debunk. Keeping the fish well fed is a step in the right direction so it kinda helps. But yeah, it's not gonna cure it. It's like eating good food when you have a cold. Just kinda makes you feel a little better.

Also. The smaller tank vs larger tank is interesting. I think you hit the key, which is that a smaller tank is far less forgiving for a beginner than a larger system. But then you're also upping the possibility for maintenance issues, which can make that larger tank a nightmare.

Interesting topic and thanks for posting.
