Yea, whole reason I got into saltwater, was to own a mantis shrimp. The peacock in particular.

SPS now in its place!!! Also go a purple short spine urchin!! Using that back wall to the fullest. You gotta do what you gotta do, when you only have 32g.

Yea hammer had a dead head. Been that way for months. Buddy didn’t like the look of it so he gave it to me. Looks funny but is healthy lol.

Yes stock lights. So far so good!!!

I’ll definitely post more mantis photos. He/she just finished molting, so the mantis should be more active.

Mantis update. Put a another Emerald Crab in his tank last night, and this morning he found it lol.

Okay okay and wow! I hate my emerald crab with a passion but I don’t want to destroy my tank to catch him. Are mantis shrimp coral and anemone safe? Do they attack snails or hermit crabs? I NEED a hermit crab serial killer! Lol!

Hey all,

This is the first post of many. I’ll be attaching videos and photos of the Biocube 32 and Peacock Mantis Build.
I was able to get 100lbs of dry rock and coral skeletons for both builds. I bleached and washed them over the course of a month or so. I won’t be using them all, so I’ll just sell off the rest.

I’ll start with the Biocube.

In the Biocube 32 I have:

300W Heater
Biocube Skimmer
InTank media baskets and refug
ACKE Plant growing light velcroed to glass
INK Bird temp gauge
Auto aqua Smart ATO Lite
7g RO reservoir
Two Fans velcroed to the back
Biocube Mini UV sterilizer
Magnetic Fish Feeder

Okay, one more thing. Lol! I haven’t found anything or maybe I missed it; related to what skimmer you replaced your coralife skimmer with. I see you have a refugium and I want to do that but haven’t gotten into researching what I need yet. I did see that you said your light was bleaching your chaeto. Ugh, so much to learn! But I love it!

Mantis shrimp will kill anything and everything in the tank, shrimp, crabs, hermits, fish etc. Will also move around coral. The anemone will be fine. They are not a big fan of light FYI and will develop shell rot if they get too much. So they don’t do too good in reef tanks and need a place to hide. Like a PVC pipe.

Yea I think they are pretty awesome as well. It’s what got me into saltwater.

I didn’t, I noticed I didn’t need one with my refug. The tank is a small tank, so it dose well without one.
