Hello everyone,

My name is Quang DO, I’m a reefer from Vietnam, since 2011, then decided to back to this hobbyist from 2022 but my tank actually set is from Jan 2023, so 19 months old now.

My favorite on the reef is actually the researches about Acropora, that i did somes before, mostly about theirs food to accelerate of growing and coloring up, some about the limits of a healthy acropora do under tank’s condition. My second fav is machinery, to testing return pumps and wave pump.

Bref, back to my new tanks, here the systerm:

SPS tank and LPS tank shared a same sump:

SPS tank 1200x650x600

LPS tank 540x540x540

sump 900x480x450

Pump SPS tank+ chiller : Abyzz A200 (soonly changing to Zoox Poseidon)

Pump LPS tank + feeding external skimmer+ UV + carbon reactor : Abyzz A100

Filtration media: Zoox, Maxspect and 20kg of liverock added to the sump after 3months got a headache of new dead rock tank and bacter 7.

UV: Aqua ultraviolet 25w

Skimmer : Reef Octopus Ext 200 and auto cleaner

Calcium reactor: Reef Octopus CR200, feed Kamoer Fx STP, media : Two little fishes Reborn, Carib Sea Arm, Korallen Zutch zeomag

Carbon reactor: seatorch, media: BRS ROX 0.8

Kalkwasser station: Reef Octopus 150, feed: Kamoer fx stp

Automatic zeolite reactor: Fauna Marin

Dosing: Kamoer X2S (ca, alk because my calcium reactor can’t support for the growth of corals enough), X4 pro ( iodine, vitamin, amino acid), F5 (nitrate, amonium, trace colours B and D of Red Sea), auto mixing station for calcium and alkaline 2x 5L Ocean Sources.

Computer, test : Apex Neptune, Trident.
lighting for SPS tank: 3 radion xr15 g5 pro, 1 xr30 g6 pro, 6 t5 (4 blue, 2 purple of Wavepoint), 2 led bars of Illumagic- 90cm.

Lighting for LPS tank: 2x Zoox Acro booster.

Lighting for chaeto in sump: 2 maxspext sumps.

Water changing : sicce 400l/h pumping 20l/day water of 1.032 (because i’m living in hot and humid country so the water tends to be diluted than to be evaporated.

Wave of SPS tank: 4 Vortech Mp40, 2 Zoox Leviathan (they are the main pump, vortech is just for some place contact too close to corals), 1 Octo pulse 4.

Wave of LPS tank: 1 Vortech Mp10

incident secours: UPS to wave pump running 5 hours if out of electricity, then i have a generator of 20.000w to support the house.

pumping secours: Royal exclusive red dragon 8000l/h, 2 tunze 1073 5000l/h, 2 Zoox Poseindon 15.000l/h, 2 Maxspect 10.000l/h, Octo 4 (i’m always scared of pump died after “the most reliable” Abyzz A100 died so i have confident to any .

My sps tank have the first sps from Feb 2023, mostly growing from frag (80%), and only 20% of them is the real aquaculture Acropora (Oregon tort, RR Olympus, JF Frankie Kryptonite, … ) but most are marine culture frags or colonies.

Salt and salinity: Fauna Marin (sometimes Red Sea) at 34.5-35 ppt

PH: 8.15-8.35

KH: 9.5-10.5

Ca: 420-460

Mg 1500-1550 ( i prefer high magnessium so i dosed a lot)

for NO3 and PO4: because after first year of hell, i don’t really concentrate to test it, seem 2-3 months a time. so i “believe” my phosphate is about 0.15 and nitrate is 10.

1722179916045.jpeg

Trace element: i’m using Balling trace 1-2-3 along with cal and alk of Fauna, but tripple dose (because ca and alk of Fauna is just for the lacking of calcium reactor power. Sometimes i added a bit zinc, vanadium and molydenium (as i feel) and dosing red sea trace colour B and D, due to the “feel” of lacking potassium and some minor traces. I'm dosing carbon source ( zeo food ) too.

Pest: that’s interesting, i have ALL, lol: AEFW, red bug, white bug, black bug, fire worm, mithrax crab, bobbit worm, planaria, flatworm eating euphillia, the first 2 months i had cyano bacteria and dino after also, valoria algae, hair algae. But then i decided to not erase them, the nature reef has them, so leave them as is and they ‘ll do their job as in the reef, so as in the photos, my tanks have no sign of death or maladie, just glow it as it.

To make sure my tank is healthy, i’m posting the photos of my tank under sunlight to avoid to be same category with good photoshop reefers and psychologic shops.
1722179829883.jpeg
1722179868194.jpeg

Success and failure: hmm, success as corals in the photos, to non- success, i’ve killed some corals: some wild tenuis, some wild frags millepora, frag of rashpberry shorcake, acropora surhasonoi, ice fire echinata and acropora speciosa is in my wish to conquer but i’m not sure i need them or not because i hate slow growing acropora.

Feeding: i'm a fan of heavy feeding, 4-8x a day to fish, for corals, i'm using LPS pellets (2-3 times a week), Red sea AB + 30ml everyday, juice of oyster, salmon and spirulina 30ml every other day, KZ Coral booster, Flatworm stop everyday.
1722179944003.jpeg

To compare with my old tank 10 years ago with same setting but with T5HO and sunlight, live rock only: i regrect to switch the tank to LED, dead rock and the bacter 7 at the beginning of the tank, then when i changed bacter 7 to others (fauna, tropic, biodigest), added 20kg of liverock daily, and added 6 bulbs of T5HO then the corals glow! One reason that i'm thinking of why LED is , that they make the colour of corals to unreal, the healthy and the unhealthy have the same colour , when it has no colour, realise the condition of corals are so late, while T5 and MH show respecfully condition of corals, then people can save the tank on times.

Chers,

Update: a Tenuis colony died from the base 20 days ago, then i checked what happened, the 2 wet sides of MP 40 has rust in the tank, when clean them the coral stop losing tissues, then i refrag it again, ironically the frag is as big as the initial colony when it was introduced to my tank, lol.
