Some flow testing done today... from what I was seeing with this test, I may not even need to run the Tunze in the tank! Video uploading to you tube now...
I ran a test with the three 1" outlets and it made a huge difference in flow. It is much more rolling and no where near as turbulent. You can barely tell the water is moving to look at it, but it definitely is. Looks like I may have to put sand in to help make the choice...I am going to see if I can find a 5 way see about using four 3/4" loc lines.
It's all plastic, except the retaining screw for the grate which I removed and threw away. There it a little "latch" which lets you wedge the lid in place and since there's suction, no worries about it ever coming off.
I discovered something that I forgot... when using a steel stand, it's a MUST to put a piece of foam board between the tank and stand. Even though the pump is sitting on foam the harmonics of the pump is passed thru all the hard plumbing and into the stand ultimately which is heard as a low hum. Tolerable but I will be draining the tank to fix my mistake.
