Finally, I found a 120g for a used price $200.
She’s the ugliest most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on. I’m going to strip the two overflows, add a ghost overflow and oh so much more to get this one wet again. I decided to put my money towards reputable equipment, instead of the glass box. (Good timing considering frameless tanks are losing fashion, dang you Red Sea.)
My previous tank was a cadlight 60g and just a frameless beauty. That tank grew coral but limped by with basic equipment. (Lighting,Powerheads, manually dosing) Time to flourish and establish a low maintenance 120g for this reefer.

Today’s 120g specs!

If you want to only use a single pipe overflow, using a maggie muffler on an oversized pipe would be best. The pipe height would set the water level and its unlikely that it will be clogged. If there's enough stuff blocking it the water would still rise and cause a full siphon which the noise would alert you and it still wouldn't flood your home.

The wood whisperer channel on YouTube has a pretty awesome bandsaw setup and tuning video that I still use as reference when I tune mine.
Okay cool I’ll check it out. I tuned it so the band was tight and straight but I got little clue what I’m doing past that hah. There’s these black cubes that act as a guide and they’re pretty worn. I’ll watch that video and see what they say about those.

Yea these guide blocks were shot bro @Lost in the Sauce
image.jpg

Trips me out that these top and bottoms bearings act as a back stop
Yessir. That was probably due to bad setup at some point where the teeth of the blade were allowed to touch the blocks.

Check out my back bearing. This is what happens with to much forward pressure while resawing. It's COMPLETELY seized on the rod because it got too hot

This is awesome, I was wondering if the bearing was even supposed to be there or if somebody tried a shotty upgrade. The top bearing doesn’t look used. This things needed some adjustments for sure. Would have never known if you hadn’t helped me out with that wood whisperer pro tip

The blocks I took out were being used as a back stop haha that’s why they’re so worn down and in weird spots

I can probably shed some light on that. That model bandsaw did not come with blocks. It came with bearings to the best of my knowledge. Those blocks are and "upgrade" for certain uses of the tool. Long straight cuts, blocks rain supreme.. My issue with him is that a bandsaw is not designed for or even close to the best tool for long straight cuts. The point of a bandsaw is the ability to turn the workpiece as well as keep a cool blade while it moves through the wood.. they renamed the blocks "cool blocks" after a few years when sales were lackluster after they were introduced and the marketing helped sell them.

I don't mind the thrust bearings (sides) being converted to blocks. I won't use them on the rear of the blade, either top or bottom of the table.

Oh dang those bearings are not cheap too. I think your correct that they used it like a table saw. It’s been through 2 owners before me. The guy that sold it to me, said he only used it a handful of times. No telling what kind of use it got before him. Judging by the adjustments left on the guide blocks I’d say this machine has seen some sh$t.

So long as the tensioner is in his shape and it has decent tires, it'll go on a Lot longer

Thanks bro, I hope to have this tool a long time. At least long enough till my boy calls it a dinosaur too. The tires look good, no nicks or rust. Feels like a tank. Was not easy getting it off the truck. Gotta be around 200lbs

Cast iron is HEAVY. Before I move down to an 8-in Delta jointer, I had a 15-in Northrop Detroit jointer with a 14" drum. That tool weighed more than my car..

I’ve been looking forward to this update. Took me awhile till I was comfortable enough to move this coral around to take pictures of it. This coral was part of a peach tipped octospawn colony.

June 10th I attempted to frag a head using bone cutters. When the bone cutters went through, the skeleton broke into 3 fragments. One fragment was about half the size of the original head I was cutting off. The other two fragments were not salvageable. From the two, one was 1/8th the original size and the second was lost in the tank’s aquascape.(fragged in tank)

First picture is before moving it around to take pictures. Puffy and trooping towards a new base 1 from the incident.

Yo Congrats! That's fantastic.

Did my info, What was your immediate after action when the bone cutters shattered it? Were you dipping in anything to aid recovery?
Thank you buddy
My immediate thought was- That’s the last time Ill ever use bone cutters on my stalks. I also thought because the mouth was missing, this coral was a goner. I couldn’t bring myself to dump it in the trash after failing it so hard. I did not dip, just glued it and left it alone in low flow.
