If I had taken the time to carefully re-read all your posts, you have probably made clear that what I am about to suggest is impossible. However, for what its worth, if I was determined to have a tank such as you propose and had received all the negative and cautionary advice that you have, this is what I would consider. Many of the problems seem to be maintenance related due to the aquarium being too small. I would go bigger, significantly bigger, so that your maintenance team would have plenty of room to get into the tank and do anything that needs done and do it the right way. If that is 10 ft. in diameter or larger, all the more awesome. It sounds like the $$$ is there, why go half way?

Don't give up on a tank. It seems you have a passion for the hobby. Just consider not doing this specific design. What about an 8'x 4' x 4' (consider 3'). You can avoid all of the caveats in this thread. It will still be work but nothing in comparison. Whatever you decide ENJOY your retirement, be well and reef-on
