I ordered stuff to set up a whole heating and cooling system for my fluval evo 13.5g, which had exactly 10g of water in it. It includes:

•Bulk Reef Supply 100W Titanium Heater Element

•Tunze aquawind eco chic cooling fan

•Ink Bird ITC-308 WiFi Dual Stage Temperature Controller

•Tunze Osmolator Nano 3152 Auto Top Off

It occurred to me though that my current heater is only 50W, so I’d now have double the wattage in the same body of water. Since it’s hooked up to a temp controller that will shut it off when the water gets too hot, would it still be an issue?

Ya I'd say it's probably too big. The two issues with it are size and most importantly, if you were to have a failure where it would be stuck on, it would cook your tank very quickly.

I like the little sicce jolly preset for my mixing station. Takes one thing to think about off the table. Looks like the 35w jolly is enough to keep 9.2 gal at 77 f so maybe that offers some reference?

Totally fine!

I went through 2 Inkbirds with 50w then 100w Fluval heaters in my Evo 13.5g too... Upgraded to an IM titanium 100w w/ their controller and never going back. 100w is perfect for our tank size. I've run 100w for a year plus, both in the middle chamber [old Fluval heater] and now the IM in the main display.

As long as it will fit it will be okay.

I'd run it on something like an inkbird so that you're not just relying on the heater thermostat.

Interesting… I have my 100W heater in the third chamber with the pump right now. My controller doesn’t seem to be picking up the temp shifts as quickly as my main thermometer, and so when it turns the heater on it leaves it on for a few minutes when it should be more like 30 seconds. Both temp sensors are in that third chamber as well. I’m stuck on whether I should continue to see what it does throughout the evening and potentially burning up my fish, or if I should change something, either the placement or the heater itself.

My QT is 20 gallons with a 200w Titanium heater probe off a non-WiFi Inkbird. Works like a champ. Yours should be fine.
