Admitedly, I tend to go for lights that have a nice design. Functionality and track record is second.

You don't need to buy the most expensive lights to get results. It's about spectrum, not PAR. Example, a lot of reefers will mount 5 lights over a tank, only to have them turned up to 30% intensity.

I hope that lights will be developed with a spectrum identical to that which corals receive in nature and that very large aquariums can be lit with very little electricity consumption. This would allow many reefers to continue their hobby without fear of the energy costs required to maintain an eef tank dominated by sps.

Improved spectrum abilities and control is getting better. I would like to see the price drop drastically for reef tank lighting, Reef tanks are already expensive to keep and this can be what drives some people away from it

We will be able to replicate nature (sun,moon) and our friends (corals) will not be able to tell the difference and act like in the wild. Lower the price
