DAILY QUESTION: How do you balance light intensity and duration to achieve optimal results in your reef tank?

I copy someone else? :p

I try for a peak around 7-8 hours and then an hour of blue on each end.

DAILY QUESTION: What tips do you have for new aquarists about choosing the right reef lighting?

Look at spread and spectrum graphs relative to your tank. Don't be afraid to check out the little guys too... there are actually some nice lights for a budget but you may give up having a nice app.

DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?

Hope to get some good daylight look during peak hours, not windex. I want fish AND corals to look good.

DAILY QUESTION: How do you manage light schedules to prevent algae growth while supporting coral health?

Algae eaters, CUC, Tangs, urchins, crabs, whatever fits the size of the tank. Also manual removal when needed. I do not set my light to limit algae.

DAILY QUESTION: What’s your strategy for acclimating corals to a new lighting system?

start low and move up slowly, sometimes I use frag racks to move them up, convenient but can be ugly.

DAILY QUESTION: How has reef lighting technology evolved since you first started reefing?

When I started, there wasn't any LED's, my first tank was compacts! I think LED's did something HUGE for nano tanks especially due to the heat not being beamed directly into the tank :)

DAILY QUESTION: How do you use lighting programs like Coral Acclimation and Clouds to benefit your tank?

Acclimation is convenient and I use it when changing tanks or after an extended outage. I am not sure my fish will appreciate clouds though lol they can be skiddish.

DAILY QUESTION: What are factors that you consider important when choosing a reef light? Why did you choose the light that you are currently using on your reef tank?

Many lights make the corals look nice but I don't want the fish to be washed out, they also add beauty to the reef. I have radion pro's because they are less "just blue" looking.
