I dose Phosphates and try to stay around 0.2 because getting below that makes bad things for my tank.

Nitrates have been as high as 100+ and as low as 25.

I rarely fight algae except for when I bottom out one or the other.

Dinos hit when I zeroed out my phosphates and SPS dies when phosphates were low and alkalinity was high.

well i dont have algae and everything seems happy but the torches. so just trying to get things down a little bit and see if that helps. i ordered stuff for kfc dip to have on hand and here they sent me the wrong stuff:confounded-face:
Change their location for a few days for diferent flow until you can make the dip and see how they go.

My experience and mine only, once I find the perfect spot for each coral (sometimes changing their position more than 5 times) the parameter variations have to become very large for a coral to be damaged in a few days. And I have lost corals like everyone else, but I think that flow, if not the first important factor in an aquarium, It is one of the most important, Right now I changed the tank and tried to recreate the same flow, it didn't turn out the same but it was pretty much the same, while the lights were different and everything is great for now

im guessing you meant testing kevin?:squinting-face-with-tongue:
honestly, im just trying to get my torches happy. so was just trying to bring it down some. does it work to just run the reactor off and on?
Once wet, gfo will turn rock hard and useless.
Best to run a little, test, find how much it takes to get it where you want it.
Once you get it there you can run just small amounts and it works and won't break the bank.
Premium aquatics has bulk much cheaper and it really works.

Nitrate for me ranges 15 to 35, never been under 15. Ever.
Been as high as api bright red years ago.
Phos is usually. 08 to 1.5,when 0 I get red everywhere.
My softies don't really use phos/nitrate as far as the extensive research I've done maybe a little.
Now with the new salt and my new skimmer I have coralline everywhere even more and extremely hard to remove green algae.
