Thanks Tim, I've been trying to give the tank a lot of extra food these days, which ended up all in the sand thinking about that, but will it be enough?
Maybe. Some people try just dropping a partial silverside or clam right under the star. I've only ever had 1 and it disappeared within a couple of weeks. Old tank, no knowledge, almost a guarantee it starved.

I'll send you some of mine. ;)
First time ever I have ordered Nitrates to pour in my tank. What has this world come to? Also read the ammonia dosing threads and just can't wrap my head around that yet, maybe try it to maintain. Always fought nitrates in my previous tanks.

Over the last few weeks I have pulled most of the sea lettuce, reduced fuge lighting, started feeding more (keeping nori in there all day and going through 2 sheets a day + a couple cubes frozen and flakes/pellets), have the skimmer only running at night 12 hours. Thought is was my test kit so I tested my 10g QT tank and that was 10 nitrate and growing algae nicely.

Have never had to dose nitrate, phosphate or ammonia.
The ammonia one is weird for me to understand also my friend.
I've always kept big poopy angels or triggers so nitrate has never been a problem.
Shove some filter pads somewhere, run a canister filter for a couple weeks and you'll see some nitrates naturally.

ha, yeah i stopped changing the filter sock. Something is gobbling nitrate (probably the ulva in fuge). When the angel and the other 2 wrasses get in there it should help.

Where do you want it to be Jill?
.11 is pretty good I think.
Ask @kevgib67 .
I recommend.05-.1 but like I said my tank has been running at .25 for as long as it has been up. Funny, I tasted mine today and it was .1 I’m assuming from the water change yesterday. Remember that phosphate binds to your rock and leaches until there is an equals out.

im guessing you meant testing kevin?:squinting-face-with-tongue:
honestly, im just trying to get my torches happy. so was just trying to bring it down some. does it work to just run the reactor off and on?
I’ve never used a reactor but you can play around, test until you find a sweet spot.

The biocube 32, ran po4 at 0.8-1.0 and No3 25-35, be in the "correct" numbers I think it's fine but I don't like to chase numbers, I always check parameters weekly as a habit now but one of the best tanks I've seen runs high No3 and Po4, But here I steal the phrase from Tim, do as I say and not as I do ;)
