He probably won't be an issue with anything that isn't a wrasse honestly. And you can still add a handful of little gobi to go around doing goby things in the rockwork. I love the little fish, they have such interesting little lives compared to a big wrasse or whatever who just cruises the tank

Magma in QT (Finds a home in the Cave) * Hoping for the best *

He is now....Swimming around peacefully and exploring.

I waited a while after he got used to the QT.
** Feed some Frozen Food, and he chased and ate every Morsel ** (ZERO WASTE!!) :)

I will continue to feed minimal and slowly ramp up. Holding back on the Urge to overfeed.

Now that's way better then when I did Anthias. Tons of feeding all floating/settling to rot.

Just be lucky like me and buy healthy fish that don't need QT. They're pretty good so far, except for the whooping-ich.

Thanks Tenurepro,

You must know how nervous I am......We've both have recently gone through some not so perfect QT experiences.

Fingers crossed... ps I don’t think you should do any prophylactic treatments with the wrasse as many are sensitive to cooper. I would just feed and observe and only treat if symptoms pop up. A good 6 wk observation period would. BE sufficient to rule out anything contagious

I had your kind of luck for over two decades with my Tanks. Till about 10 years ago when I added one Clown with Velvet, which wiped out my whole tank of fish.

Too much at risk with all the work gone in for the new Tank Residents (multiple QT and Feed training).

BTW. I am worried about the Sunburst Anthias (Fathead).
I know you have one...
I've been watching him lately.
When he was in QT he could suck up a whole frozen cube.
I never paid attention to him since he went into DT many weeks ago.
He looks super healthy, FAT too. Absolutely normal behavior except for not eating.

He looks like he isn't eating at all. Weird. Food hits him in the face and no bites.
I've watched with Flakes, Frozen, even tiny Frozen Eggs.
Wanders around but doesn't eat.
I did notice this in general, and he would scoop a bite on occasion.

IS HE EATTING SOMETHING ELSE? Copepods like the Madarin.

THE ONLY OTHER THING I CAN THING OF.....is I ran out of Spirulina Loaded Hikari Frozen food, and switched over to plain Hikari Frozen Brineshrimp. (Maybe he got used to the Spirulina based food, and is being picky for the short term).

I think I just answered my own question when I wrote ABOVE.

I dug around my zip lock baggies of Frozen, and there were some scraps of the Spirulina Frozen. Tiny bits.
When I fed the tank, he went chasing the little bits (AND ATE), while ignoring the other non-spirulina bits.

I WILL GET SOME OF THE SIRULINA Brine Shrimp tomorrow, and see if this is the mystery solution.

Yeah mines picky. When I feed LRS by itself he only eats some bits and pieces. I've realized there's a dozen ingredients and in LRS he'll eat like 4 of them. And not if they're too big, or too small..

Mine started eating like mad once I got V20 Spirulina Brine/Mysis (Mysis and brine spirulina loaded). He also loves Selcon/SELCO Boost. And mini mysis.

For what looks like a big fish, they have smaller mouths, and mine tends to go after mini mysis and anything gutloaded with spirulina.

The more you mix your food together, the more likely he will be to start eating more stuff. I'm gonna copy some info I gave on feeding to give you an idea of what I mean.

You should feed all your fish the largest variety of food you could possibly get your hands on. Here's my basic rundown on feeding;

______________________________________________________

Feeding fish = Growth, and Health. You want fish to repair, heal, recover from illness? Feed the absolute crap out of them. Make sure your tank has adequate flow so they burn some calories swimming actively too.

Foods Start with a Base -- A base is, IMO, a food that rounds out the general diet. There are two good bases you should start with;
- LRS Reef Frenzy
- ROD'S Food

Either of those make a great base, that give almost everything you can imagine to your fish. Bass, Clams, Oysters, worms, roughage, octopus, squid, etc etc. A nice round offering to START with.

Once you have your BASE, you add specific things on top of that for your fish. Some fish are picky, some are specific. Some fish need a LOT of greens in their diet or they get constipated (my firefish will legit turn into a lump poop mass if not given enough greens, and she will die from it).

Examples of stuff to add on top of the BASE, and why you may want it
- Rods eggs (capelin roe, small or picky fish)
- OVA Oyster Eggs (Small/picky)
- V20 Reef Caviar eggs (large eggs / picky)
- V20/Hikari Spirulina Brine/Mysis (Fish that need more greens, these are spirulina fed brine and mysis)
- V20 / Cobalt / Hikari mini Mysis (smaller food, picky fish, smaller fish, fish with smaller mouths)
- Black Worms (picky fish, fish health)

On top of this, you may wish to add stuff to your fishes food to increase health as well. These are typically supplements. HUFA's, Lipids, Vitamins. Here are a few examples that I have used and approve of.

Supplements
- Selcon
- SELCO Boost
- AquaForest FishV

So what is my food like?
- LRS Nano chunk
- 1-2 Cubes V20 Spirulina Mysis/Brine
- 1-2 Cubes V20 Mini Mysis
- 1-2 Cubes V20 Reef Caviar or OVA or RODS eggs
- 0.5mL Selcon
- 1 squirt SELCO Boost
- 1-2 drops AF FishV

That lasts me two days, for 9 fish in my 50 cube.

Perfect, you just confirmed my observation.
Glad I noticed, since I wasn't planning on getting any more Spirilina Frozen Brine till the large pack of regular ran out.
I've been using the Spirulina for ages. I kind of switch because of the Brown Algae on the CaribSea rock.
I thought of using a more cleaner, pure food.

Many thanks for this Grocery list.
I will experiment, but will get back to basics that he eats for sure.

How about Reef Chilli. You left that off your list.
I have a full Jar since I stopped using it for Coral Feeding.

I use reef chili sometimes in the mix, but I usually just dump in 5-6 of those little spoons every 3-5 days. My fish love the smell of reef chili but aren't willing to chase little bits of food.

I will also say Sunburst Anthias are omnivores and eat a lot of plankton in the wild. You can't feed them too much greens. They may openly go after planktons, rotifers, anything gut-loaded with greens. And Maybe (long shot here) Hikari Algae pellets soaked in food.

I have a pellet food I toss in my food mix (which also has some RODI to make like a food soup for them marinating all the flavors). And it has little pieces of green/red algae, and he likes those too. But only takes a couple... So I'll throw in a pinch of that food every 2-3 weeks.

I pay very close attention to all my fish. I can spot a mysis wofting in the flow and immediately know My firefish will go for it but it's too big, the flasher will try and take it away, but the leopard will scare off the flasher and wait until the firefish gives up, then eat it.

I can tell by the size and color of food which fish will go for it vs ignore it. When you're tank is by your desk you'll pickup on EVERY detail lol

Yep. I got to start paying attention to what the fish eat and don't eat.
Also more variety but not to the point where I have every kind of food on the market.
I got a ton of food (pellets) that my fish won't eat.
I've never had the patience to starve them long enough to get them to eat pellets (just a few rare brands work. OMEGA ONE (Marine Pellets with Garlic) and (Tetra Color TROPICAL Granules)

Well take 1 cube of 2-3 different foods, put them in a small jar with just a little RODI to mix it up in, throw in a pinch of pellets and selcon and let it mix for a few hours. I've never got my fish to eat pellets (not even like this) but everyone I've had try this had success... except me. So it's worth a shot for anybody who isn't me it seems

COUPLE OF UPDATES:

SUNBURST ATHIAS Still NOT Eating normally (Spirulina Frozen):

So I got some Frozen Spirulina Brine Shrimp, and was excited that the Sunburst would eat like before.
Nope!!! He looked like he was chasing more today, but still looking for something else.
WHAT THE HECK DOES HE WANT!!

Maybe he eats behind my back since he is really THICK and honestly the healthiest looking fish of all my fish.
But I'm still worried. The good news is he Hungry, and I will continue to monitor and try your recipes Rakie.

MAGMA WRASSE (Looks Spectacular on Day 2):

Well yesterday he wasn't out much. Exploring peacefully. Kind of looked more ORANGY then RED under the Coral Plus T5.
Today when I came down to look and White LEDS came on, it was like WOW!! He is spectacularly RED.
Now I'm triple concerned that he does well, since if he looks this way a Juvenille, I can't imagine what he will look like when he matures.
He does eat, but is also a bit picky since sometimes he spits out the food he takes down.
I will continue with Variety of food till I find his pallet tastes.
Also I will try a variety of feeding techniques. Fast moving food. Suspended food. Food on rocks, etc.
Tried some MASSTICK on my Stick Feeder but he never found it (YET), and lights went out.

Put in an Photo Entry into the AUGUST Photo of the Month Contest (Leathers)

Last month I entered the Mandarin Photo entry, but never made the voting cut.
This month the Category is Leathers, and I had a leather in my 90 Gallon Kitchen Tank.
Started from a tiny little finger, and it grew and grew under my Kessil/T5 Fixture, till it just took over the tank prime space (Shading my Zoa's, Acan, etc).
I got photo's during each stage of growth over a few years.
Finally it just got TOO BIG I had to give it away, and it's currently at Canada Corals where it continues to thrive which keeps me happy since I can visit it when I drop by.
Here is My Photo Entry of my Leather......Wish me luck (hoping Photo get's selected by Judge Panel for Member voting this time).

He might be afraid of the new Angel too. The angel only has to inspect him to make him jumpy.

Mine will occasionally chase and not eat too. I think of him like a cheetah, he likes chasing whatever he eats and in low flow he wont want to eat much. Any chance you moved a powerhead for cleaning or something silly like that?

Otherwise.. I have a feeling the new angel might scare him a bit. Their shape is oddly similar and he's much larger than your sunburst is.

You could be right Rakie on all your points. Except the food chasing, since the tank has high flow everywhere, and food moves fast.
The Angel really keeps to himself, in a different area of the tank. At least for now.

I would say the Angel is just a tiny bit bigger since the Fat Head really got bigger. The Yellow Tang and the Copperband are the Large fish. Tang actually chases the Angel out of his places.
The Fat Head Anthias and the Angel would be next biggest, and then the rest, but the 3 Cariberryi Anthias and Chromis are fastest eaters.

And Fat Head is an appropriate name, maybe DUMB HEAD might be better, since he kind of chases food, ponders and then it's gone before he get's a chance to bite.
I think I need to do a daily feed where a dump more food in since OF COURSE there is now more competition and food disappears quite quickly.
I assume he'll get hungrier and will speed up his eating habits.
